Attention TIME LIMIT
All Midshipmen must complete the Basic Training Program within 1 month of enlisting failure to do so will trigger 1 warning failure to complete the training within the second month will lead to your expulsion from BG3 and the ILN.
Basic Training 1/4 - Reading Material
Read the following articles; you are encouraged to ask questions about anything you don't understand.
1. Wartime Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) [1]
2. The Rookie's Guide to Fleet Ops [2]
3. Timers [3]
Basic Training 2/4 - Classes
Attend the following classes. If you attend a class, post in that forum thread to briefly describe what you learnt (and to give feedback on the class). If these classes are not being taught (or not on at a time which suits you), you may request Credit. Credit for classes still requires you to learn the course material (via course notes, audio classes, or one-on-one tutoring). To gain credit, get a senior ILN Officer (rank Lieutenant or above) to quiz you on that area. You only need to be quized if you did not attend a live class. When you have attended a class or been quized and are comfortable with your knowledge in that field, use this form [BASIC TRAINING REGISTRATION FORM] to update your progress. Also, please remember that not every ILN Officer will be comfortable testing your knowledge in every area.
1. Fleets 101+102 [4]
2. Tackling 101 [5]
3. Drones 101 [6]
4. Capacitor Management / Cap is Life 101 [7]
5. Shield Tanking 101 [8] OR Armor Tanking 101 [9]
6. Ewar 101 [10] (can be reduced to only ECM OR Non-Caldari Ewar)
Basic Training 3/4 - Events
Participate in the following events, to consolidate knowledge gained from reading and classes. You can gain Credit for sparring sessions, by attending similar events instead (such as Frigate Free-For-Alls, Deathmatches, etc.). If you attend an event, post in that forum thread to briefly describe what you learnt (and to give feedback on the event).
1. At least 3 Red vs Blue sparring sessions (you will need to post an after-sparring-session-comment to describe what you learnt in the session)
AND
2. At least 3 E-Uni fleet operations
OR
3. At least 6 E-Uni fleet operations
Basic Training 4/4 - Further Assessment Criteria
In addition to reading articles, attending classes, and participating in events, completing the following assessment criteria ensures qualification for the rank of Ensign.
1. At least 5 killboard entry contributions in tackler or ewar roles (must include at least 1 in tackler role and at least 1 in ewar role)
Use the following form to register for the BG3 Training Programme: [BASIC TRAINING REGISTRATION FORM]
Please ensure you use the forms listed in this article to update your progress and please dont shower the N7 Training Officer with EVE or forum mail as it creates too much paperwork.
Requesting Promotion
Once you have satisfied all the above requirements and wish to be promoted from Midshipman to Ensign, send a forum message to your N1 Personnel Officer requesting promotion. Include a link to your killboard, AARs of fleets or RvB events that you were on, as well as a brief summary of some of your experiences.
