Introduction
Many new EVE University students opt to move to Korsiki in order to facilitate the attendance of classes and E-UNI operations. An average of 75% of these relocated students that are relatively new to missions sometimes find themselves a bit lost due to the requirement of finding new agents and corporations in and around their new home system. This guide is intended to assist those new missioners in finding a good starting agent and corporation.
This guide will not review those agents located in low-security systems.
The Basics
Agents become available for missions when one's standing toward either that specific agent, his corporation, or his faction meets or exceeds a minimum value. This value is calculated from the agent's Level and Quality using the formula:
2*(L-1) + 0.05*Q
...where L is the agent's level and Q is the agent's quality. For this formula, we can easily see that an L1Q0 (Level 1, Quality 0) agent requires 0.00 standing, an L2Q0 agent requires 2.00 standing, etc.
New students of Amarr, Gallente, or Minmatar heritage who move to Korsiki will often have near zero (or even slightly negative) standings with the Caldari State and probably most other factions besides their own. It is therefore very helpful to know where low-level and low-quality agents may be found near our HQ. In particular, L1Q0 and lesser agents are most important for a start. L1Q-19 and other low-quality agents may seem useless, but they are actually very helpful for new mission runners whom may have a negative faction standing with the Caldari due to running Gallente or Minmatar missions at their old home.
Students can use these accessible agents to run missions and raise their standing with that agent and corporation, and eventually with the associated faction through the Storyline missions. Therefore it is also helpful to know if progressively higher Level and Quality agents are available nearby so that mission runners may intelligently "migrate" to them during the course of their careers.
Students should also not forget about their Social skills. In particular, a level or three in Social and Connections can make the climb from Level 1 to Level 2 missions far less time-consuming, and eventually even eliminate it altogether. (I will go into the details of the effects of Social skills in a future guide.)
Caveat
If you are aiming to build up standing with a particular faction, then you should try not to accept missions from an opposing faction's agent. I will go into detail about maximizing standing gains in a future guide, but for beginners it should generally suffice to simply avoid one or the other faction pairs. That is to say: If you wish to concentrate on gaining faction with the Amarr or Caldari, then avoid agents from the Gallente or Minmatar, and vice-versa. If you have no idea if you should nor not, then don't even worry about it. The standing penalties are very small for Level 1 and Level 2 missions, and you will probably have a good idea about which path you wish to travel, if any, by the time you reach Level 3 missions.
Level 1 Agents, by Distance
All corporations are Caldari unless otherwise noted. Only those systems within 5 jumps of Korsiki and in high-security space are listed.
In Korsiki
There are only two L1 agents in the Korsiki system itself. Expert Housing has an L1Q16 at 3-18 (that is: Planet 3, Moon 18 ) and School of Applied Knowledge has an L1Q19 at 2-7. These will not be immediately accessible to those whom are brand new to the Caldari faction, but they are very high-quality L1 agents that should be remembered if you choose to work for these corporations.
Nuken (distance: 1 jump)
The dead-end neighboring system of Nuken has a single L1Q14 at 7-20 for the Hyasyoda Corporation. Again, not immediately available to new mission runners, but of notably high quality.
Airaken (distance: 1 jump)
Next-door Airaken is a popular springboard for new mission runners in E-UNI because of the corporation Sisters of EVE (SOE). Besides being only one jump away from our HQ, this system is also home three (3) Level 1 SOE agents: L1Q16 at 5-1, L1Q17 at 5-1, and most importantly a Storyline Agent at 6-1. What is also significant about SOE is that they have their own faction (Servant Sisters of EVE) whom are "friendly" with several other factions, including Gallente, Minmatar, and CONCORD. This means that these high-quality agents may not be immediately accessible to new missioners, but you may gain standing with them through these friendly factions. In fact, by the time Gallente or Minmatar students move over to Korsiki, they may find that they already qualify (or are very close).
Also of major note in Airaken is the Expert Housing corporation, with an L1Q16 at 8-0 (that is: Planet 8, not at a moon) and Storyline Agent at 8-0.
Lai Dai corporation also has an L1Q9 at 4-1.
Uminas (distance: 3 jumps)
Caldari Provisions corporation has an L1Q-9 at 5-3 in this dead-end system. This is one of the closest agents that will be immediately available to brand new missioners to this area, due to his "zero or less" Quality.
Wuos (distance: 3 jumps)
Another nearby dead-end system, this is home to two L1 agents for Zainou Biotech: An L1Q11 at 6-0, and an L1Q19 at 6-0. Not immediately available to new missioners, but notable for their proximity and very high quality.
Ishisomo (distance: 3 jumps)
Immediately available to new missioners including those whom may have a slightly negative standing with the Caldari, Propel Dynamics corporation has an L1Q-19 at 7-14. The Chief Executive Panel corporation also has a Storyline Agent at 9-9.
Poinen (distance: 4 jumps)
Poinen is by far the most popular nearby missioning hub. Its draw comes from the Internal Security corporation whose agents range from complete starter L1's to good-quality L4's all in a single system! To begin with are an L1Q-19 at 5-26 whom is available to everybody, including those whom may have a slightly negative standing. Also available from Internal Security corporation are an L1Q-6 at 5-26, L1Q-5 at 5-26, L1Q5 at 5-12, and L1Q15 at 5-26. Having such a variety of L1 agents in a single system is a major advantage because a mission runner will not need to travel far to use higher-quailty agents as they progress their standing.
Nugoeihuvi Corporation also has an L1Q0 (non-Storyline) at 4-13 and an L1Q2 at 4-13. And Spacelane Patrol has an L1Q-16 at 3-16 available to most new pilots.
Liekuri (distance: 4 jumps)
For new, negative-standing mission runners, Expert Distribution has an L1Q-18 at 7-22 and Sukuuvestaa Corporation has an L1Q-15 at 6-4. Spacelane Patrol also has an L1Q13 at 6-0 for those migrating from Poinen next door.
Sakkikainen (distance: 4 jumps)
Another location for those with negative standing to gain a foothold, Lai Dai Corporation has an L1Q-18 at 6-1. Nugoeihuvi Corporation also has an L1Q13 at 6-1.
Otela (distance: 5 jumps)
Expert Distribution has an L1Q-4 at 4-9 for slightly-negative pilots, with an L1Q13 at 4-9 for when they regain some of their standing. Expert Housing also has an L1Q14 at 5-1.
Nomaa (distance: 5 jumps)
Spacelane Patrol has a negative-starter here, an L1Q-10 at 4-2. Expert Housing has an L1Q0 (non-Storyline) at 6-4 and an L1Q17 at 6-4 for a great zero-movement migration.
Vahunomi (distance: 5 jumps)
State and Region Bank have a high-quailty L1Q19 at 10-4, though you will need to gain standing for them elsewhere or via your Caldari faction because they have no other L1 agents within 5 jumps of HQ.
Friggi (distance: 5 jumps)
Nugoeihuvi Corporation has a good starter L1Q0 (non-Storyline) at 8-20.
Josameto (distance: 5 jumps)
This is a good starter location for the Nugoeihuvi Corporation, with an L1Q-18 at 4-1 and an L1Q-12 at 8-1 for netagive-starters. Once a positive standing is reached, Nugoeihuvi Corporation has an L1Q0 (non-Storyline) at 8-0 and an L1Q6 at 8-0.
Sukuuvestaa Corporation has an L1Q0 (non-Storyline) at 3-1. Spacelane Patrol has an L1Q7 at 8-0. And of importance, Expert Distribution has a Storyline Agent at 3-0.
Corporation Forward Planning
Although your immediate concern may be only to find any available agent for missions, a dedicated mission runner may wish to plan ahead for their level progression. For example, when you progress to Level 2 and higher missions, or even to a same-level higher-quality agent, you may wish to continue staying near the HQ area or to at least minimize the distance that you will need to move your stash to your new mission hub.
An agent's division will also become important to you as you progress to higher-level missions. The division will determine what percentage of the missions will be of the four available types: kill, courier, trade, and mining. Of the divisions listed below, their mission type breakdown is approximately:
Administration: 50% kill, 50% courier Command: 97% kill, 3% courier Legal: 50% kill, 50% courier Marketing: 5% kill, 95% courier Personnel: 50% kill, 50% courier Public Relations: 33% kill, 67% courier Security: 90% kill, 5% courier, 5% trade Surveillance: 95% kill, 5% courier
Here are some of the more notable progression plans for near the Korsiki area. Only those agents within 5 jumps of Korsiki and in high-security space are listed.
Internal Security
This is by far the least-hassle progression in the immediate area because all levels of agents from 1 through 4 are available in a single system: Poinen. Because of this, a missioner need not move far at all in order to quickly take advantage of higher quality-level agents and eventually higher-level agents. The Poinen-only progression tree is:
- L1Q-19: Poinen 5-26 (security)
- L1Q-6: Poinen 5-26 (command)
- L1Q-5: Poinen 5-26 (command)
- L1Q5: Poinen 5-12 (surveillance)
- L1Q15: Poinen 5-26 (security)
- L2Q-6: Poinen 5-26 (security)
- L2Q-2: Poinen 5-12 (security)
- L2Q3: Poinen 5-26 (surveillance)
- L2Q5: Poinen 5-12 (command)
- L2Q16: Poinen 5-26 (surveillance)
- L2Q18: Poinen 5-12 (command)
- L3Q0: Poinen 5-12 (surveillance)
- L4Q-14: Poinen 5-26 (personnel)
- L4Q5: Poinen 5-12 (surveillance)
The only drawback is that the nearest Storyline agent is not Internal Security. Still, for most people, the advantages of making a single system their long-term mission hub and having it so close to Korsiki will greatly outweigh this.
Expert Housing
Expert Housing has the advantage of a Storyline Agent in Airaken, which will be within range of the L1Q16 agents in Korsiki and Airaken as well as the L3Q15 in Osmon. This progression works excellently through the Level 3 stages, but all the good Level 4 agents are a bit further away from Korsiki. By the time you reach L4 missions, though, you probably won't mind being a little bit further away than 5 jumps. This progression is good for those players whom may prefer courier-type missions over combat, as there are many Marketing division agents on the way up. The progression tree is:
- Storyline: Airaken 8-0
- L1Q0: Nomaa 6-4 (public relations)
- L1Q14: Otela 5-1 (legal)
- L1Q16: Korsiki 3-8 (administration)
- L1Q16: Airaken 8 (marketing)
- L1Q17: Nomaa 6-4 (administration)
- L2Q6: Otela 2-0 (marketing)
- L2Q15: Otela 2-0 (marketing)
- L3Q-18: Otela 5-1 (marketing)
- L3Q-16: Nomaa 1-0 (legal)
- L3Q12: Otela 5-1 (marketing)
- L3Q15: Osmon 6-1 (legal)
- L4Q-16: Olo 1-1 (marketing)
Sisters of EVE
Newer pilots whom wish to stay near HQ but do not wish to hurt their standings with the Gallente or Minmatar factions would do well to work for the Sisters of EVE. Although the SOE corp is technically friendly with Gallente and Minmatar factions, their standing gains only slightly hurt Amarr and Caldari standings because they are a member of their own faction (Servant Sisters of EVE). This is a good place to start until you are able to run missions specifically for any Gallente or Minmatar corprations with a presence in Caldari space (e.g. Republic Security Services over in the Lonetrek region).
There is one significant drawback, though. SOE has no Level 3 agents anywhere near the Korsiki area. Thus, if you wish to reach the L4 agent in Osmon, then your best course would be to grind out L2 missions until you qualify. As you can imagine, this can become very tedious. It does help that the Storyline Agent is the preferred agent for all local SOE missions. This has the chance to greatly help your standing gain, but only once every 16 missions, so it is still quite a grind.
Also, as stated above, the lowest quality agent is an L1Q16 and so SOE agents may not be immediately available to all new pilots.
The progression tree is:
- Storyline: Airaken 6-1
- L1Q16: Airaken 5-1 (administration)
- L1Q17: Airaken 5-1 (administration)
- L2Q-5: Airaken 6-1 (public relations)
- L2Q10: Airaken 6-1 (administration)
- L4Q0: Osmon 2-1 (administration)
Spacelane Patrol
Spacelane Patrol is another very prevalent corporation in the Korsiki area. A large amount of the time may be spent with agents in Josameto, but it is not quite as convenient as Internal Security in Poinen because a little bit of moving around is required as you approach Level 3 missions. You must also move slightly further away to access good-quality Level 3 agents. The Spacelane Patrol progression tree is:
- L1Q-16: Poinen 3-16 (command)
- L1Q-10: Nomaa 4-2 (security)
- L1Q7: Josameto 8-0 (security)
- L1Q13: Liekuri 6-0 (security)
- L2Q-18: Poinen 3-16 (command)
- L2Q-15: Poinen 3-16 (security)
- L2Q-12: Josameto 8-0 (personnel)
- L2Q-11: Josameto 4-0 (surveillance)
- L2Q7: Josameto 4-0 (security)
- L2Q10: Josameto 8-0 (security)
- L2Q12: Josameto 8-0 (security)
- L2Q17: Olo 2-3 (surveillance)
- L2Q17: Liekuri 6-0 (surveillance)
- L3Q-16: Poinen 1-2 (command)
- L4Q-16: Nomaa 4-2 (personnel)
- L4Q-2: Olo 2-3 (security)
Other Corporations
There may be other corporations with good progression trees in the Korsiki area, especially if you are willing to extend your distance from HQ to 6 or 7 jumps. If you know of any other good missioning progressions, then please feel free to post them here!
