An Introduction to War in the UNI

In addition to the Welcome Page which is required reading the information included in the page should help you as a new recruit be better prepared to participate in wartime pvp activities with the Uni. Please read this carefully.

For your first war it may be preferable for you to base out of the Uni's HQ Station in Aldrat - Pator Tech School (also called PTS).
The choice to do so remains yours and you may wish to select a different station in Aldrat. The possibility exists that an enemy may camp the station making it difficult to undock. For this reason it is recommended that you select another station once the war is over.

As a new member you may request T1 frigates and basic modules which are available to you for free. Use a shuttle, noob frigate or a non-mining bonus frigate to dock at PTS first. Be sure to check local for WarTargets and make sure no lockdown is in effect before undocking. Then ask in corp chat for someone to help you with getting a frigate and/or fittings. Standard corporation fittings for frigates are available and can be dragged and dropped into corp chat when making your request.

These fittings can be found in the fittings window - click browse - select corporation fittings. If your request isn't answered wait 10 minutes before asking again. It's wartime so your corp-mates will likely be busy. Please be patient. Once someone responds to your request they will then either contract or trade the items you requested to you.

To participate in fleet ops you'll need to install Mumble and register with the server. You will also need to have your overview set-up as per the Overview Guide. You also need to have read and have a basic understanding of these guides and policies: The Rookie's Guide To Fleet Ops, Wartime Checklist and Wartime Standard Operating Procedures.

Fleets are not generally scheduled. They go out when someone decides to be a Fleet Commander and there are enough people to form a proper fleet. Fleet formation is announced in Alliance chat, so keep an eye on it. Please make sure you've read the Rookie's Guide to Fleet Ops and understand the terms and procedures involved in joining a fleet. Ask questions in corp chat if you need clarification.

In order to set up your overview you'll need to be in an Wartime SOP compliant ship in space. To do this safely you can ask in Corp for help to get to our POS. Once there you'll be able to work on your overview in the safety of its shields. Do not go afk while at the POS. Complete your overview and return to your station. You can also use or create a same account alt and set your overview up using that character. The overview settings will transfer to all other characters on the same account automatically.

You'll also want to be familiar with our ingame bulletins. For corporate bulletins, open the Corporation window, then go to the home tab. For alliance bulletins, from the same window click on the Alliances tab and then on the lower set of tabs click Bulletins. This set of bulletins contains important passwords you'll need - do NOT give these out without permission from a Director.

A final reminder, always check your Eve-mail before you undock. You'll receive notification of any war declarations as well as lockdown notifications.
