Zraltori's Mining Operations

Zraltori is the Mining Manager at Eve University. As such he's keen to let Unistas know what they can expect when signing up to an operation with him. A guide has already been written on Uni ops which appears here [[1]] and Zraltori hopes this this page merely complements that...
I look to advertise my operations both within the University Forum within the 'Mining and Planetary Interaction' section and also on the calendar in good time to allow for diaries to be coordinated.
All of my operations have Orca support with range and cycle boosts and occasionally an Orca Hauler in addition to the booster pilot - the latter depends on interest from hauler pilots. I say that because I'm a firm believer in giving everyone that wants to join in a role. If you want to haul then I'll make sure there's a job for you. If you want to mine then I'll make sure you don't need to be concerned about hauling. It's all about having some fun and making some Iskies.
My view on mining ops are that they offer a great chance for all those in the Uni with a similar outlook to get together and chat about mining - the delicacies of yields / refining and profits. They also offer an opportunity for Unistas both new and 'old' to meet new friends and have some fun. Space can be a lonely place, especially staring at rocks. It's better to have a trusted group of friends to share the time with, mine some ore and put the worlds to rights. That said there are usually some basic questions...

First things first - will I get paid?
In short, 'yes'.
You will receive a share of the profits based on the amount of time you spent on the rocks. All you need to do is join the fleet when it's active by 'M'-ing up in the industry channel or through fleet finder, and, when you've switched on your lasers in the belt - give me a 'lasers on' - if I don't acknowledge - sometimes I may be running more than one client - please feel free to evemail me your time on so it's not missed. Usually though you will get an immediate 'rgr'. Similarly - if you need to go because RL calls - no problem - just pop me a 'lasers off' in fleet.
Haulers - you get an equal share again based on the time you spend on the operation. With the University it's all about helping us get the isk to buy the better ships and fits to become better at what we do. There's is no differentiation between a Tormentor pilot or a Hulk pilot on my ops which is in line with University policy on these matters. The reason for this is that is allows those in ships with lower yields to benefit from their more experienced colleagues output thus assisting them to purchase that shiny Retriever a little sooner perhaps than the may have managed alone.
Ok, so I'm getting paid - What are the mechanics around that?
On my op threads I'll make it clear what the 'rules of engagement' are. Generally you can take it for granted that I will take hold of all the ore - either through trades or contract to a particular station - if in Aldrat usually M13 Minmatar Mining Station. Following completion of the Operation ('lasers off') and once I have all of the ore in my possession I'll report immediately to you our total haul (in ore) so you've an idea of results. At the same time I will contact one of the University 'perfect refiners' to assist with creating those more profitable minerals :)
Generally the ore is refined within 24-48 hours of that request.
I always give a guarantee that Isk will be paid within 7 days of the operation.
Ok, so what do you do with the minerals then?
Once I have the minerals contracted back then comes the next part. At the present time I set up sell orders to undercut local sellers in Aldrat. This is because of a couple of things -
(1) I don't yet have the facility to haul to where the prices are best - I tried that once and it took a full day of backwards and forwards which made me dizzy!;
(2) I want to get you your profits as quickly as possible and move on to the next op.
If it transpires that the ore does not sell or we require a quick turnaround then I will merely sell directly to market. Obviously this isn't as profitable as sell orders and at the moment is a last resort especially since I can't haul I see the sell orders as a happy halfway house.
Once the minerals are sold I will transfer Isk to the amount of your time contribution to your account and Evemail you to alert you to the deposit. This then concludes the operation for me.
Do you run any other types of Op?
Ice Mining
Occasionally I will arrange an Ice Mining Operation to assist with maintaining University assets. These ops will have haulers laid on but there will be no individual profit. All the ice will be deposited directly into Uni hangars. Just my way of giving back a little to the people who have helped me.
Bring Your Own Can
As the name suggests - mine as you would normally but within a group perhaps for safety but more likely for company and a bit of fun - perhaps to swap tall tales about those runs into lowsec? Sometimes hauling may be available but should not be relied upon. All pilots are responsible for their own hauls.
Low Sec runs
On a need to know basis.
So who are you and what are your plans?
Career wise I see nothing in EvE more attractive than the University and hope to remain within its ranks for many months and years. I have also developed a regular schedule of operations working with friends new and old.
What I am NOT is a mining expert. I've only been playing Eve since September 2010 and so know very little. I am willing to learn and have met some fantastic people who have been willing to share their extensive knowledge of New Eden which has already greatly enhanced my experience.
This page will develop with my skills and adapt as I'm able to do more. Until then my very grateful thanks go out to those pilots who have already worked with me to ensure that what we've managed so far has been good fun.
