Creating syllabi is no longer our process for new classes, and no classes in the syllabus library are considered current. They are here for historical purposes only, as well as an optional starting point for designing new classes. New Eden is a big place. Really big. And you won't find helpful signs that say things like: "This way to the trade hub" or "Short cut to Aldrat" or "Don't go here unless you want to die!" Instead, pilots must learn the "lay of the land" over time, and hope they don't take any wrong turns.

This course is designed to help new capsuleers understand the basic topology of New Eden, how to read the in-game map, where the major navigational routes are set, and how to get where you want to go with minimized danger. We'll cover the basic structure of the EVE universe, including important locations of key factions and player-run alliances. And we'll introduce you to some invaluable tools and links to assist you with travel and navigation.

After this course, New Eden won't seem quite as big and scary, and you'll be able to travel with more confidence.

Introduction

Welcome to this introductory class on the map and structure of the New Eden cluster!

(Instructor should then introduce himself or herself - covering relevant experience level and background.)

We have a few ground rules for this class:

  • Please put your Mumble settings on "Push to Talk" if you have not already done so.
  • Feel free to type any questions in the Class.E-UNI chat channel as we proceed - I will try to answer your questions as they come during the class. At the end of my lecture, we'll open Mumble for any further questions or general discussion.
