For mission runners, you would use your Missions preset on one tab and, on another tab, select this Probes preset.  The probes tab will display probes on grid, but, more importantly, you use this tab in conjunction with your directional scanner to display cleanly all probes within the tremendous range of your d-scanner.  Select the '''Use Active Overview Settings''' checkbox on your d-scanner and flip to your Probes tab.  Press Scan and voila!  You see only probes on the d-scanner display.  If you see combat probes, sisters combat probes or deep space probes, you know immediately that you are at risk of being scanned out.
