An Acceleration Gate waiting to be activated

An acceleration gate is a structure in space, which allows reaching specific deadspace pockets. Once activated, they initiate the ship's warp drive and propel it several thousand km in the gates facing direction. Acceleration gates are in a deadspace pocket themself and connect the pockets of a deadspace complex allowing travel between these, although usually only in one direction. A Spatial Rift is a variant of acceleration gates.

Bypassing any acceleration gate to enter its destination, especially those in Encounter Surveillance Systems or Factional Warfare complexes, is considered as a usage of declared exploit and will cause gamemasters to interfere.

Mechanics

Acceleration Gate with the blue activation circle

Acceleration gates can be activated from a distance of 2.500m or less, indicated by a blue circle around the gate. The diameter of this activation circle can vary up to 100km. A warp disrupted or scrambled ship can not activate an acceleration gate.

Ship restrictions

Acceleration gates impose ship restrictions for entering the deadspace pocket connected to the gate. Usually, most gates prohibit capsules and capital ships from entering. Other restrictions exclude specific ship sizes (i.e. Battleships) or types (i.e. Strategic Cruisers). In Missions, Agents inform of certain ship restrictions in the details screen. When a gate is activated while piloting a prohibited ship size or type, a popup message informs about the permitted ships.

Other restrictions

Some acceleration gates require to have specific items in your cargo hold (i.e. Keycards, Tags, etc.). These can often but not always be found inside the deadspace complex, you are currently in. Some of these items are consumed on gate activation. If the item is consumed and the resulting warp is canceled due to the player's action or due to getting warp disrupted, another item of that type is needed to activate the gate again.

Other restrictions usually require you to destroy a certain enemy or all enemies inside the deadspace pocket or even to destroy or use a specific structure.

Spawn and Despawn

Acceleration gates spawn and despawn together with their respective deadspace pocket.

Variations

Spatial Rift

A Spatial Rift functions identically to an acceleration gate regarding its mechanics, although missing the blue activation circle. Spatial Rifts are commonly found in Sleeper Caches and to a lesser degree in Missions.

Several Missions and deadspace pockets contain inactive or damaged acceleration gates. These are marked as Large Collideable Structures instead of acceleration gates.

Certain combat sites from the Triglavian Invasion feature Triglavian-built acceleration gates, which use the same model as the triangular stargates found in Abyssal Deadspace.

Lore

Acceleration gate

Acceleration gate technology reaches far back to the expansion era of the empires that survived the great EVE gate collapse. While their individual setup might differ in terms of ship size they can transport and whether they require a certain passkey or code to be used, all share the same fundamental function of hurling space vessels to a destination beacon within solar system boundaries.

Spatial Rift

These natural phenomenum that rumour says will hurtle those that come too close to faraway places. Wary travelers stay away from them as some that have ventured too close have never been seen again.
