===Login Details===

Username is your character name (the same as all E-Uni services) however your password will be different. Your password can be found [http://forum.eveuniversity.org/ucp.php?i=profile&mode=profile_info here] or by going to the User Control Panel on the E-Uni forums, then Profile, and then Edit Profile. You can also change your password here however a password change may take up to 2 hours to be processed during which time you may not be able to login.

When changing your password, it must be from 4 to 20 characters in length and consist of standard alphanumeric characters only.  It cannot contain spaces, special characters, international characters, punctuation, etc.  If your new password does not conform to these rules, then it will not work for killboard login, and in fact chances are that the system will automatically change it back to a random alphanumeric password again within a day.

The Uni Killboard (or Killfeed) lists all losses and kills (including NPC losses) for Ivy League pilots. It is used as a learning tool. All killmails are automatically pulled from the API. If you think a kill or lossmail is missing then please contact a Director.

Commenting on Kill and Lossmails

IVY members must comment on all loss, and some kill, mails (see the rules for full details).

Using the Killboard

  1. Navigate to the kill/loss entry
  2. Enter your comment in the Comments field on the left, under the involved pilots list
  3. Enter your character's name and the killboard comment password (see the forum thread for passwords)
  4. Click add comment

Kills, Kill Points and Efficiencies

  • 'Kills' - The count of all kills by an entity.
  • 'Real kills' - This is the count of recorded kills minus any pod, shuttle and noobship kills.
  • The 'Real kills' value is used throughout all award and statistic pages.
  • Every kill is assigned a point value. Based on the ship type destroyed, and the number and types of ships involved in the kill, the number of points indicates the difficulty of the kill. As a result, a gank will get a lot less points awarded than a kill in a small engagement. A list of point values and further discussion can be found at [Jester's Trek]
  • Efficiency is calculated as the ratio of damage done in ISK of ship and modules versus the damage received in ISK. This comes down to
 damagedone / (damagedone + damagereceived ) * 100

Some of the above is also found under [About Killfeed].

Rank, Rankpoints and Ribbons

Our killboard uses a mod named rankmod. This mod assigns pseudo military ranks, ribbons and medals to pilots based on their killboard stats.

  • 'Rank' - To achieve a new rank you need to obtain enough rankpoints for the next killboard rank. You can see the different killboard ranks, their insignia and the rankpoints you need for each on this page.
  • 'Rankpoints (RP)' - The total rankpoints (RP) are the sum of "base points" and "bonus points" less "malus points". You can see the values for each pilot under their medal box.
  • 'Base RP' - The base RP are based off the total killpoints. The ratio of killpoints to rankpoints can be set by the killboard operator, currently it is set to a ratio of 30 killpooints for 1 rankpoint.
  • 'Bonus RP' - The bonus RP are extra RP for having been awarded ribbons and medals. The ribbons come in three grades: expert, veteran and elite. Each ribbon needs a certain amount of kill in a ship class or with a certain type of weapon. The rankpoints you get for each ribbon depends on the difficulty of obtaining it. For example the expert frigate ribbon yields 10 points, the veteran command ship 150 points and the elite carrier or dreadnought ribbon 1000 points. The medals are awarded each month and for the current and past months can be seen under the "awards" section. The medals are worth between 10 and 50 points each and points from multiple medals are cumulative. You can see the requirement for each ribbon and medal on this page.
  • 'Malus RP' - The malus RP are "awarded" for the two loss medals each month, top losses overall and top losses in highsec. Each is worth negative one point which hardly affects the overall RP and is more for comical value.

Troubleshooting

Common problems when trying to comment on KMs:

  • If this is your first time to appear on the killboard, then you will not immediately be able to access it. Wait a few hours or, to be more certain, a full day.
  • You must fully log in to the killboard using the password shown in your Forum Profile. It appears that the functionality for "a password for only posting comments" was (silently?) disabled.
  • If you change your password, then don't use punctuation. Keep it to alphanumeric only. Special characters make it fail.
  • If you change your password, then the change may not take effect for a few hours.

Some students still experience problems after checking all of these. This can mysteriously disappear after a few days to even a week. The cause of this is currently unknown. If you experience this issue then please report it in this thread.
