NOTE:

  • Our mumble channel is public and we welcome alumni and players who have applied to join EvE University.

Moving to the HSC

IF THERE IS AN ONGOING WAR, DO NOT MOVE ANYTHING IN AN INDUSTRIAL ON YOUR UNI CHARACTER.

When moving to Amygnon, fly your Uni character down in a cheap ship. Please be aware that trade hubs and pipeline systems in trade routes are almost always camped by hostile corporations and it is not advised to fly through these systems with industrial ships, PvE ships.

To move the rest of your belongings, you can create and use an Hauler Alt, use our free Freighter Service, or ask in mumble/chat for someone to help on their alt character.

Rules and Guidelines

General

  • Members undocked in and around Campus should be in the main Standing Fleet or a mission/mining group fleet for their safety and the safety of other HSC members.
    • Only members of EVE University or the alts of members of EVE University are allowed to join the HSC Standing Fleet.
  • All members of the HSC Main fleet must adhere to all EVE University Rules.
  • Members active in campus must be in Mumble (if you are hearing impaired, let us know).
    • You do not have to talk in Mumble, but it is highly advised that you should at least listen.
    • HSC Mumble is an event chat, so you may join mumble if you are not actively participating in the fleet, however you MUST follow combat comms when they're active.
    • When the uni is at war, you MUST be in comms and fleet for both your safety and the safety of other HSC members before you undock.
  • If you are going AFK then you must drop fleet.
  • Help your fellow HSC-mates learn. This is an on-going educational chat room. Lesson opportunities override all else.
  • Fly only what you can afford to lose.

PvP

  • Any formal event that results in a killmail or lossmail must have a comment on the killboard as well as have an AAR written about it on the forum. It is your responsibility to comment on your lossmails. AAR's are generally written by the FC.
    • 1v1 arranged fights do not need an AAR, but do still require a comment on lossmails.

  • Suggested PvP loot distribution is 'donation to the campus'. Fleet Agreement on loot distribution overrides this.
    • An exception to this rule is that during wartime, war-target loot belongs to the Uni. This loot will be deposited into the alpha hangar (Donations) container.

PvE

  • PvE loot is property of the group who agree to rat or run sites together, and should be distributed as per prior agreement of the group.
  • The first person at a site (combat, event, data, relic, etc.) is considered the "owner" and Unistas are forbidden from stealing sites from other Unistas or our allies (aka "blues").
  • For sites occupied by non-blues, please remember that we are the nice guys in New Eden. Whilst it is acceptable within the game mechanics to race against non-blues, it does not fit with this image.
  • Mission rewards may never be shared with the main HSC Standing Fleet. If you are running missions as a group, you must form a separate fleet in order to share the standings.
  • Mission fleet members are advised to dock up when WTs are identified near to HSC. This could be to assist local PvP efforts or to secure high price ships. If you can assist in the fight, standby to join the standing fleet and await announcements in HSC chat or mumble.

Communications

  • Campus communications are by default “OPEN COMMS”.
  • When first entering the HSC mumble please wait a minute before speaking (unless it is very urgent) to ensure "Combat Comms" is not in operation.
  • Open comms are usually only suspended for two reasons:
    • Someone calls “Break Break” over mumble, which indicates a new threat or that a fellow Unista is in immediate danger. Please allow the pilot to speak.
    • "Combat Comms” is called over mumble. This indicates a fight is underway and non-combat related chatter should pause for the duration. Prolonged combat should be moved as soon as is practical to the HSC PvP sub channel in order to leave the main comms open for general learning.
  • If you are operating in a fleet when there is a lot of general chat in comms, you may wish to move to a separate Mumble sub-channel where it will be easier to communicate with your fleet.
  • If you are setting up an initiative to hunt war targets in the area, please move to the HSC PvP mumble sub-channel until you disband the initiative. However, please bear in mind that even if not participating in the hunt, new players can learn a lot from listening in, so non-combatants are encouraged to join comms if they wish.

  • As noted in General Rules above, when the Uni is at war, you MUST be in comms and fleet for both your safety and the safety of other HSC members before you undock.

HSC Mumble sub-channels

  • HSC PvP - used for any PvP combat, including 1v1's within camp
  • HSC Mining - where miners can chat whilst killing rocks!
  • HSC Missions - somewhere our mission runners can hang out
  • HSC Utility - free-use for anybody
  • HSC Office - staff only
  • HSC Ready Room - is the main channel too loud for you? Get some peace here!
  • HSC Sleeper Room (muted) - going AFK for a few minutes? Drop into the Sleeper room. (Remember to move when you return! This room is muted, so nobody can warn you of local WT's etc in here!)

Standing Fleet

Standing Fleet is a form of fleet specific for each campus and aims to provide better communication between pilots within the same region of space, quick response whenever a member capsuleer in distress and defensive force whenever the campus is subjected to hostile action. Each member of the fleet can freely do their solo or group tasks such as PvE, Mining, PvP or Trading, since there is no specific purpose of the standing fleet itself, but in times of emergency, fleet is transformed into Quick Response Fleet in order to defend a fellow capsuleer, to repel any hostile entity and to defend the space and assets of the EVE University.

How to join the Standing Fleet

  1. Open the Fleet window via your NeoCom (NeoCom->Social->Fleet)
  2. Set the "Scope" to "My Available Fleets"
  3. Set "Range" and "Min. Standing" to "Any"
  4. Look for a fleet named "HSC Standing Fleet"
  5. Right click on the fleet and select "Join" or simply double-click to join the fleet (remember to drop your current fleet if you are in one).

Once you are in fleet:

  1. Right click on the four lines of the Fleet tab in the top left corner of the window and select "View as Hierarchy". If that option does not exist, you are already in hierarchy mode.
  2. Find your name in the fleet hierarchy (note that your current Wing & Squad will have a Green arrow next to it).
  3. Drag and drop your name in to the appropriate Wing/Squad.
  4. Check the MotD (Message of the Day) of the Fleet and join the proper Mumble channel (For standing fleets it is the Campus specific Mumble Channel, HSC Mumble)

Setting up a Standing Fleet

If you go looking for a HSC Standing Fleet and cannot find it, ask if there is a fleet up in Mumble or Campus chat channel. If not, or you geat no answer, you are advised to set up a standing fleet and then share the advert of the standing fleet in the campus chat channel to inform campus members about the fleet so they can join the fleet. Also note that anybody can set up the Standing Fleet. Being Fleet Boss is not the same as being Fleet Commander (FC) (Check: Fleet Boss).

In order to set a standing fleet please follow this proceduce;

  1. Open the Fleet window via your NeoCom (NeoCom->Social->Fleet)
  2. Right click on the four lines on the fleet tab and select "Form Fleet"
    • If you already have a fleet setup, you can load it by following the next steps, otherwise continue on with Step 3.
    • Open the Fleet window and click on the four lines to open the Fleet menu,
    • Select Fleet setups, then select "HSC Standing Fleet",
    • Continue to Step 9.
  3. Once the fleet is created, right click on the four lines again and select "Set Free-Move"
  4. Set up a Quick Response Wing by right clicking on "Wing 1" and change its name to "Quick Response"
    • Right click on the Quick Response wing and select "Create New Squad". Do this twice times so you have 3 squads in the wing (note that there is one preset squad in the wing),
    • Right click on "Squad 1" and change its name to "Combat" for Damage Dealer ships to join,
    • Right click on "Squad 1" and change its name to "Logistics" for Logistics ships to join,
    • Right click on "Squad 1" and change its name to "Support" for E-WAR, Scout and other role ships to join,
  5. Set up a PvP Wing by right clicking on "Fleet" and selecting "Create New Wing"
    • Right click on the new wing and change its name to "PvP Wing",
    • Right click on the new wing and select "Create New Squad". Do this three times so you have 3 squads in the new wing. Again, 3 is the default/minimum. More can be added if needed.
  6. Set up a PvE Wing by right clicking on "Fleet" and selecting "Create New Wing"
    • Right click on the new wing and change its name to "PvE Wing",
    • Right click on the new wing and select "Create New Squad". Do this three times so you have 3 squads in the new wing. Again, 3 is the default/minimum. More can be added if needed.
  7. Set up a Mining Wing by right clicking on "Fleet" and selecting "Create New Wing"
    • Right click on the new wing and change its name to "Mining Wing",
    • Right click on the new wing and select "Create New Squad". Do this three times so you have 3 squads in the new wing. Again, 3 is the default/minimum. More can be added if needed.
  8. Create a MoTD (Message of the Day) in the Fleet chat box. (To create a MoTD, click the 'cog' in the Fleet chat box. Then click 'Open channel settings window'. Set your MoTD in the pop-up box and hit OK!)
    • Example MOTD:

HSC Standing Fleet. Please read this MOTD carefully, since there are some vital points that you should be careful about so it makes yours and ours flight experience much better and safer. Free Move is ON. Please move yourself to the relevant Squad. Do NOT share standings after missions while your are in the Standing Fleet. Do NOT go AFK while in Space! If you are going to be AFK, dock up. If you are in space, you should be in Mumble. Feel free to ask questions in Fleet Chat or Mumble. We are currently at War! Be in Mumble, keep an eye on local and LiveIntel channel. Use common sense for hauling, mining and missioning during wartime!

  9. Create the Standing Fleet Advert
    • Select the "Fleet Finder" tab in the fleet window,
    • Select the "My Advert" tab,
    • Click the "Create Advert" button at the bottom of the window,
    • Set the "Fleet Name" to "HSC Standing Fleet",
    • Check the "My Corporation" and "My Alliance" check boxes.
    • Select "Hide Details in Advert" box at the bottom on the window and leave everything else as default.
    • Select the "Submit" button.
  10. You can store your fleet setup for easy re-use. (Check: Storing Standing Fleet Settings)

Standing Fleet Boss

The main job of the fleet boss is to manage the fleet such as curating message of the day, setting free-move and moving people in and out of Fleet/Wing command positions when asked to do so. Also, they are responsible for adding/removing new Wings and Squads as needed. The fleet boss is not "in charge" of HSC, nor is he/she the "FC" of the fleet. Fleet boss is simply an administrative role.

Accepting Fleet Boss

If boss is passed to you, either as a result of you volunteering or being "ninja bossed", the Fleet Advert window will pop up on your screen. Verify the Advert settings are correct as specified above and select the "Submit" button. This will update the Fleet finder with the fact that you are the new boss. Save the fleet setup from the Fleet windows setting menu for future use, if you have not done this before.

Passing Fleet Boss to Another

If you are ready to leave fleet and are the current boss, you must pass the boss position to another in fleet first. Ask for volunteers in the Fleet Chat and/or Mumble. Make every reasonable effort to pass boss to someone who is active. Once you have your volunteer, pass fleet boss to them by right clicking their name in chat or the fleet window, followed by a left click on "Make Boss".

Storing Standing Fleet Settings

You can store your fleet setup for easy re-use.

  1. In the fleet menu, click the four lines to open the menu.
  2. Click "Store Fleet Setup" option
  3. Enter the name "HSC Standing Fleet" and check "Include Current Free-move Setting" and "Include Message of the Day".

Corporation Hangars

Amygnon - Citadel 101 is home to the HSC's Corporation Hangars. These hangars contain free ships, modules, ammunition, and miscellaneous items ready for use. We attempt to keep a full selection of frigates and destroyers and a wide assortment of items in stock. HSC students are encouraged to use the hangars to help fit ships in order to participate in different areas of game/roles (ie- Exploration, PvE/PvP logistics, damage dealer). (see 'Hangar Rules, below)

  • NOTE: Members of EVE University are allowed access to the Corp Hangar upon receiving a title. Members without hangar access may ask in HSC Mumble or the HSC chat channel if someone who does have access (Freshmen and above) is available to get it for them. The amount of access you receive depends on your title.

Hangar access is a privilege, not a right. All members who make use of this facility must adhere to the rules. These rules have been implemented to prevent problems such as Corp Theft, and any violation of these rules may result in revocation of hangar access or even expulsion from EVE University. Remember that when this section refers to "you", it means your character who is a member of EVE University. You may not use corp resources for alternate characters.

Hangar Rules

Please read the following rules carefully and follow them while using Corporation Hangars.

  • Take only what equipment you will personally and immediately use (or for another member without hangar access to personally and immediately use) You may not take items to resell, reprocess, nor to give to your friends/alts. Only take items to fit onto your own ship, or for another E-UNI member to fit onto theirs.
  • Take only as much as you need. This especially applies to ammunition. Don't take an entire stack of missiles when you only need a few hundred of them. A good general rule is to take only enough to fit one ship, or fly one mission. Remember that the hangar stocks are for use by all members, not just yourself, so please be courteous and leave some for others to use.
  • Re-lock your stacks! Remember that the locking mechanism is for auditing. If you do not re-lock a stack, then the next person to come along can take the entire stack and it will appear as if you stole it all.
  • If you are "done" with an item after using it, please do not put it back onto the original stack Any item that you take is yours. If you wish to return it for someone else to use, then think of it as a "re-donation" and drop it into the "Donations" Container, as with any other donation.
  • If you accidentally take too much of an item, then you may put the excess back onto the original, unlocked stack. This is the only situation where items may be added to a stack, when they were already there to begin with. When in doubt, you can always drop the items into the Donations Container and then send the HSC Manager an EVE mail explaining what happened.

Accessing the Hangar

  1. Dock at Amygnon Citadel 101
  2. Open the inventory window (default = ALT+C)
  3. Open the Corporation Hangar window at the very bottom of the Inventory window.
  4. Open the tab with the name of the hangar (e.g. Alpha) you wish to access.

Taking an Item

  1. Open the container for your item.
  2. Right-click on the stack of that item and choose "Unlock Item".
  3. Hold the Shift Key and Drag the item stack to where you wish to place your item (ie- your inventory).
  4. In the Set Quantity dialog box, type in the number of the item that you need, then press OK.
  5. If you accidentally take too many of an item, you may put it back onto the original stack while it is still unlocked.
6. IMPORTANT: Right-click on the remaining stack in the hangar container and choose Lock Item.

Donating to HSC

EVE University runs primarily on donations from its members and alumni, along with well-wishers and supporters of our cause. Without these people and their donations, we would not be able to provide the new pilots the resources that we currently offer.

Donations of modules, Ships, Charges and other items from E-UNI members

Please remember to repair and repackage all of the items that you wish to donate if at all possible. If you are donating something which cannot be repackaged (such as a rigged ship) then please name it after yourself so we know where it came from.

If you have Alpha access or above, you should place any modules, charges or similar into the 'Alpha - Donations' container in the Alpha Hangar in Citadel 101. Note that you will not have access to view the items inside the container, but you can still drop donations into it. If the items are too large or you do not have access, please contract them directly to the HSC Manager, with "HSC Donation" in the description (you can put 10,000isk in the 'I will receive' box to cover the cost of creating the contract if you wish).

IMPORTANT: Please do not place donated items directly onto the stacks or into the hangars or other containers! Use only the 'Alpha - Donations' container or contract for donations. It may seem like you are saving the Hangar Section some time and hassle, but it actually creates more work for them to take your excess items back out!

See also Eve University Donations.

Ship Replacement Program

HSC has a campus specific Ship Reimbursement Program only for announced doctrine ships lost in PvP Fleets.

HSC Members can replace frigate, destroyer and cruiser hulls themselves from the Alpha hangar at Citadel 101 (see Hangars, above).

For all other losses, please see Ship Replacement Program

Other helpful resources

The Implants Program - Members of EVE University benefit from The +3 Implants Program, providing young members the ability to purchase one full set of basic +3 implants at a reduced price. The benefit over lower quality implants or no implants at all is quite obvious: faster skill training.

Market prices for +3s are usually around 9 - 10 million ISK a piece. EVE University will provide them for 5 million ISK each.

The Skillbook Program - Members of EVE University may take advantage of The Skillbook Program, providing vital skillbooks valued at 1 million ISK or less. Every Member of EVE University may request reimbursements via the Corp chat channel. EVE Universty members with Freshman status or higher can directly get reimbursement for the purchase of a skillbook through accessing the Skillbook Wallet. They can also help with Reimbursements in the Corp channel to those who have no access to the wallet.

The Mentor Program - Members of EVE University may take advantage of The Mentor Program, which pairs new players with experienced players who can provide practical advice and coaching. Mentors assist their assigned charges through EVE mail exchanges, online chats, Mumble discussions, or in-game exercises where appropriate. Mentors are assigned based on compatible times and similar interests in the game.

What can I do in the HSC?

  • Learn! To find upcoming classes, regularly check the Scheduled Classes and the HSC sections of the Uni forums, and the in-game Calendar (found by clicking on the clock in the bottom left of your screen).
  • Have fun! There are many events to choose from in EvE University each week. Check the Corporation Events and the HSC sections of the Uni forums, and the in-game Calendar (found by clicking on the clock in the bottom left of your screen)

PvE Missions

  • Missions are available from agents in the various stations located in the star systems near HSC. Missions give ISK, loot, and Loyalty Points (which can be redeemed at the agent's station store.
  • Mission Fleets invite new players to join in doing higher level, more lucrative missions.
    • If you don't have the power needed to help with high level combat missions, you can also join the team as a salvager, just flying one pocket behind and looting the wrecks. You can make millions this way as a lot of loot is dropped by the enemies.
  • The Epic Arc Mission, "The Bloodstained Stars", a fifty episode level I PvE adventure, is available from the Sisters of Eve agent in nearby Arnon.

Mining

Industry

  • Blueprint Library available to Freshmen and above at "Megaton Labs ME/TE/Inv". Read HSC BPO Library Guide before using the service.
  • "Rivet City" provides bonuses for manufacturing jobs.
  • "The New Pitt 54pc" provides bonuses for reprocessing.
  • Friendly Customs Offices in Amygnon have reduced tax rates for Planetary Interaction.

Exploration (sites and wormholes)

PvP

Hauling

NOTE: When undocked, keep a close eye out for War Targets or suicide gankers. Stay aligned to station as much as possible. Keep checking Dscan. Watch out for combat probes if you are in a mission pocket, somebody might be scanning you down to attack you. Assess any newcomer that lands on grid with you, and if you're not sure, warp out.

You may also want to look at Alt Hauling, a way of using a second (non-UNI) character to do your hauling, thus avoiding problems with War Targets.
