The universe is vast, beautiful, and deadly. Pilots flying through the EVE universe may from time to time take a screen capture of something that catches their eye-- whether it be a brand new ship or SKIN, your ship in an interstellar fleet, a never-before-seen Keepstar, a unique shipwreck floating in space, or a beautiful planet on fire.

To take a screenshot, first follow these steps:

  1. Press [ctrl+F9] keys to clear the screen of user interface features.
  2. Move the camera view to the desired angle and depth of field.
  3. Position and frame the desired shot objects in space.

Windows

Next, press the "Print Screen" key on your keyboard. The computer will save your screenshot the EVE folder located on your computer's c: drive.

If you are playing the game from a Steam account, pressing F12 will save your screenshot to your Steam temporary screenshot folder. Minimize the game client window to see the Steam temporary screenshot folder window on the desktop. The window will temporarily hold all of your F12 capture screenshots. These screenshots may be selected and uploaded to your user's Steam library (select the option "friends only" or "public"). If this action is not uploaded and the Steam temporary screenshot folder window is closed, all of those temporary Steam screenshots will be lost.

Press [ctrl+F9] to return all user interface features.

It is a good rule of thumb to take both "Print Screen" AND F12 screen captures, to save that once-in-a-lifetime shot to both save folders, just in case one is lost or gone.

Default save location:
C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\EVE\capture\Screenshots

MacOS

The files will be saved on your Desktop.

Mac OS application "Grab" can be used for further refinement to screen shots. It is in the Utilities folder under Applications.
