RELATED UNI-WIKI REFERENCES

The Sunesis-class SoCT Destroyer allows any acolyte to protect the investigations and secrets of the society. Since it has very low skill requirements, any capsuleer can pilot it. It serves well in research and exploration but truly comes into its own in combat, with an extremely fast align time. This is a ship that shows its value when understanding the universe requires a strong hand as well as a sharp mind.

Summary

The Sunesis class Society of Conscious Thought destroyer is a special edition ship given out as a reward during Eve Online: Ascension in November 16 2016. This ship was also issued as part of the 15th Capsuleer Anniversary along with an Apotheosis shuttle, Gnosis battlecruiser, and the new Praxis class battleship. Despite fast align times associated with SoCT ships they are notoriously slow in overall speed. The Sunesis sacrifices overall resist levels against all types of damage in order to eliminate resist "holes". This arrangement means shield and armor tanking for the Sunesis would be handled slightly differently than with standard destroyers. While the only skill required to fly this vessel is Spaceship Command I, further skill progression in drone related, armor or shield tanking, scanning, and weapon specialization (specifically progression to the point of allowing Tech 2 modules) will drastically increase the effectiveness of the ship.

The Sunesis is also the largest cargo capacity sub 2s align ship, and could therefore be used effectively in highly camped high/lowsec. Nullsec effectiveness is reduced somewhat thanks to the existence of bubbles.

  • Suitable for moving cargo up to 1586m3 in high and low sec.
  • Instawarp (with all L5 skills)

FITTING NOTE: While Shield and Armor modules to plug the "holes" are not required, overall resist ratings (particularly shield resists) need to be augmented. Module fitting slots are modest yet unspecialized. There is one accessory high slot allowing the pilot to somewhat specialize the role of the fit. For exploration a scan or core probe launcher can be fit. If the vessel is going to be used for PVE missions it is probably more advisable to fit a drone link augmenter. Fitting the augmenter allows the pilot to take advantage of the 50% bonus to drone damage and hitpoints at a greater range. It should be noted that the Sunesis suffers from a narrow 20 Mbit/S drone control bandwidth thereby limiting the number of drones available for use.
