This is a deprecated class syllabus, intended as historical record for the teaching department.

Creating syllabi is no longer our process for new classes, and no classes in the syllabus library are considered current. They are here for historical purposes only, as well as an optional starting point for designing new classes. Please do not assume any of the classes you find here have slides, or have even been taught for many years. If you do use information in a syllabus, ensure that you have brought it up to date with contemporary EVE.

Class Information

This chapter contains the standard information for this class pertaining to scheduling and class contents. The General Information should be sufficient to create a proper class topic for scheduling on the Eve University forum. Additional information relevant to the teacher is listed under Notes for the Teacher.

General Information

This class will teach the basics to understand, use, counter and lead tracking disruption and their ships. Since it's an introductory class, it will focus on T1 ships.

  • Duration: 1 hour [and an additional 30 minutes for the optional practical exercise]
  • Location: Docked up safely in a station. Practical location TBD.

Student requirements:

  • Mumble registration and access - make sure you have Mumble sorted out and operational well before the class begins. Use this guide for set-up:
  • Access to the Lecture.E-UNI in-game chat channel
  • If the student wants to come to the practical execise, he will need a tracking disruption module (or more), at least one of each script, and a small, low-power gun (civilian, if posible).

Additional information: This class is primarily lecture delivered in the Lecture.E-UNI channel in Mumble, followed by Q&A. [An optional practical exercise follows.]

Notes for the Teacher

Required materials:

For the practical, place the stundents in pairs and tell them to orbit each other at a given distance (20km?), then TD each other in turns with diferent scripts.

Welcome to this class on Tracking Disruption!

This course is designed primarily for learning the basics on using and countering Tracking Disruption, and also leading a squad of tracking disruption ships.

Over the next hour or so, we shall cover:

Everyone ready? OK, then - let's begin...

What is it

  • Tracking Disruption is the Amarr type of Electronic Warfare. The other types are Sensor dampening for Gallente, Electronic Countermesures (ECM) for Caldari, and Target painting for Minmatar.
  • TD aims to destroy the target ship turrets ability to either, hit at long range, or track fast.
    • To do this, TD modules lower the target's optimal range, and tracking speed.
  • Lowering the optimal range of a ship means that, although he will still be able to shoot at the maximum targeting range, he won't be able to hit as far as it did before.
  • Lowering the tracking speed means that the disrupted ship will have problem tracking small and/or fast ships, especially if they are close, because this increases their angular velocity.

How does it work

  • TD modules are fairly easy to use and similar to guns. Having the target locked, we only need to activate the module and the target will be 100% affected if he's on our optimal range, 50% if he's inside the falloff range, and so on.
  • The TD will affect both his optimal range and his turret tracking speed, or one of them with double effect if we have a script loaded.

Training for TD

  • Weapon Disruption: -5% Cap
  • Frequency Modulation: +10% Falloff
  • Long Distance Jamming: +10% Optimal
  • Turret Destabilization: +5% TD strength

  • Tracking disruptor II

Ships focused on TD

  • Arbitrator
  • Crucifier
  • T2

Using my TD

  • Optimal range to defend long range/big ships
  • Tracking speed to defend short range/fast ships.
  • TD works only on turrets. It won't affect anything else, such as warp disruptors, webs, ECM modules, repair and energy transfer modules, missiles (although they are subject to change), etc, even if they have an optimal range stat.


  • They are charges, like the tracking disruptor ammo. It isn't strictly necesary to load a script in order to activate a TD module, but you really should always go for one of the two.
