The Serpentis is one of the major pirate factions in EVE. They are known for their biochemical expertise and drug business.

Serpentis

When neural boosters were discovered, they were believed to be a path for the improvement of the individual and even all of humanity. Igil Sarpati founded a corporation, Sarpantis, and led booster research for the Gallente Federation. However, when the side-effects of neural boosters was discovered, the Federation banned boosters and the corporation was dissolved.

Igil Sarpati's adopted son, a Caldari named Virge Salvador Sarpati, founded a new company, Serpentis, which held the booster formulas of his father's company. Since the booster formulas were worthless now that boosters were illegal, the company initially did high-tech research and development. Due to his father's experiences with the Gallente Federation, V. Salvador Sarpati (as he called himself), became increasingly hostile to the Gallente and closer to the Caldari. The corporation grew until it owned 24 stations in the Curse and Fountain regions. Sarpati runs the corporation from a luxurious starbase at Serpentis Prime, which is in a system he purchased and renamed in the Fountain region.

Although all the Serpentis stations are officially described as research stations, they are known as pirate havens. Sarpati encouraged this development and has hinted at some unknown, long term strategy. There are rumors that V. Salvador Sarpati has begun to use father’s booster formulas to make his R&D corporation into the galaxy's preeminent drug runner. This may explain the close relationship between the Serpentis corporation and the Angel Cartel, particularly their Guardian Angels, who guard Serpentis assets and possibly drugs.

The Serpentis cartel

The actual Serpentis faction, an organization similar to that of a player alliance, is called Serpentis.

The Serpentis Corporation was founded a few decades ago by Igil Sarpati. At first it was engaged in hi-tech neural booster research, but with the discovery of their fatal side-effects, prematurely closed. The company was re-established by Igil's adopted son, Salvador Sarpati, and with time its ties with the underworld grew and the Serpentis research stations, scattered around in remote areas, became infamous pirate havens. Sarpati made a deal with the Angel Cartel early on to provide protection for his stations and the duty was taken on by the Guardian Angels. Both sides have prospered enormously for this deal - Serpentis can operate in peace and the Angel Cartel gets access to the illegal research efforts of the Serpentis. It is strongly believed that Serpentis is the main developer and manufacturer of illegal neural boosters, especially since Sarpati's father was a renown specialist in that field. The home of Serpentis is in the Phoenix constellation in the Fountain region.

Cartel members

The Serpentis cartel has two members, similar to player corporations.

Serpentis Corporation Serpentis Corporation

The Serpentis Corporation was initially a Gallentean research firm that evolved into a drug cartel. The Serpentis Corporation is believed to be the biggest producer and distributor of illegal neural boosters. They have employed the Guardian Angels to protect their assets in space.

Serpentis Inquest Serpentis Inquest

Serpentis Inquest is a offspring of the Serpentis Corporation that is also a research company, but instead of focusing on neural boosters Inquest is researching black cyber implants and alternative cloning methods.
