Titles FAQ

This is a list of common titles questions with answers from the Titles staff.

Q: Why does the title check tool show there is an issue with my API? A: While you may have updated your API in the tool a member of staff still needs to pull the API manually. Until this is done the title check will show an issue at the API stage. Even when this has been done it can still take up to a day for the title check page to update and show the API is fine.

Q: Why have I been waiting a week when someone else got his title in a day? A: When it comes to Graduate it has a longer delay as it is not automated and requires a member of title staff to manually check the requirements it then also needs to wait just like all of our titles for a director to grant it because of this there can be large gaps in the time it takes to be granted a title.

Q: It’s been a month why has my request for Psi not been complete? A: Psi is on hold while we decide what do to with it.

Q: What MI Score is needed for Graduate? A: None as MI is not used while processing Graduate.

Q: I have an [X] instead of my normal titles why? A: Read Me! A: Should you find yourself with simply the title of [X] (and if you had titles and roles they will have been removed) this means there has been some issue come up. You need to contact the Student Relations Manager or a Director in order to have any titles and roles restored.

Q: How do I know when I'm ready to apply for a graduate title? Specifically with regards to "clear evidence of understanding" in classes, forums, wiki or killboard? A: First of all you should make sure you meet the other requirements for Graduate. This is the easy part. For you to show "clear evidence of understanding" we need to be able to tell from your participation on the forum, your contributions to the wiki and the killboard aswell as your class attendance that you have a certain level of knowledge and competence. This may be done by purposefully fitting your ships (your comments really help here!) or by helping others on the forum. There is no real limit to how you can show us your "understanding" of the game. The only real restriction is that we need to be able to tell what you have been doing (providing additional information with your application can help to point us into the right direction!). Apart from that we endeavor to do justice to all playstyles. A1: The MI Index is of no relevance to your Graduate application. It is possible to meet the requirements for Graduate long before you meet the 10.000 MI points requirement for automated Theta. There is no 'point requirement' for Graduate. A2: It takes at least 20 minutes or more to thoroughly perform all required checks. This doesn't indicate whether the application will be accepted or not. If we finish after no more then 5 minutes, then we are looking at a very clear rejection.

Q: I haven't been online for more then a month, how do i regain my old title ? A1: You will regain your titles as soon as you meet the requirements again. In this case you managed to meet them by logging back in. You are currently listed to receive the Freshman title with the next batch. A2: Your API is up-to-date and working and as has been mentioned in the initial post "a member of staff still needs to pull the API manually. Until this is done the title check will show an issue at the API stage." A: Yes, you should get your original title back. However, this may take some time since this process is mostly automated now too and you will have to proceed through Freshman to Sophomore (since Freshman is a requirement for Sophomore).

Q: When is the API check done? Every few days? A: The API check is done whenever you meet the other requirements and you appear on the list to recieve a new title. I just checked your API and it is up-to-date and working just fine. The Title Check page should be updated within the next 24 hours and you should recieve your Freshman title with one of the next batches. That is, as long as you meet the non-trial account requirement. :D

Q: I haven't been able to attend classes in game however I have attended in mumble using my phone since all the classes are during workhours. A1: You will need to get attendance logged for at least one class. Please note: Classes must be at least 60 minutes (read: you have to attend them for at least 60 minutes) and have 10+ attendees to be logged. Class attendance on mumble should usually suffice. Keep track of your class attendance here.

Q: Say I upgraded my trial account after my last API check (resulting in the message Viona gave). Since there won't be a new API check until I meet all the other requirements (including trial account), and I won't validate the trial-account requirement until my API is checked again ... We are in some kind of a deadlock, aren't we ? A: In fact we have only recently become aware of this problem ourselves. We had a few similar cases in the past. But most of them came to our attention because the affected member contacted us and we simply checked their API and were done. We are currently looking into different possible solutions for this problem. We are hoping to find one that meets the interests of all those involved: Members should recieve their titles in time with a minimum of extra workload for our staff. In the meantime, if you are in the same situation ("you do not meet the non-trial account requirement"), feel free to contact us and we will perform your API check.

Q: I meet all criteria to become a freshman pilot, but my title has not been updated yet. I thought for the freshman status it was automated, am i wrong? A: Please note: Automated means a tool will check your eligibility before adding your name to the titles processing queue. A Director will then apply the title. The title will not appear the 'day' you qualify.
