The proposed revision for "Missile Damage" is complete except for minor edit checking. Given that the original page has needed editing for some number of years, I plan to wait two weeks for comments, and if there is no objection, I will replace the original with the revision. 2015-06-19

I think your new revision of the page is really good! I made a few formatting tweaks (including using collapsible and sortable tables); feel free to use or discard my proposed changes as you see fit.
If you'd like to solicit more feedback on your page, you may want to post a message on the forums (e.g. on the Web Development forum), asking people to take a look. Thanks for your hard work :)
P.S. If you want to "sign" your messages on Talk pages, you can type four tildes (~~~~), which will automatically be converted to your signature (like mine below). You're encouraged to sign your messages on Talk pages, as it makes it easier to keep track of who said what when. Noemie Belacqua 04:55, 24 June 2015 (CDT)

Note on Passive Shield Tank rewrite. I moved the basic explanation of how shields work to a new article: Shields: How They Work. The hope was to create a single article about the shield mechanism without referring to tanking or fitting – one that could be understood by beginners and linked to by other authors. The edited version of Passive Shield Tank links to that article.

The computations for the Hurricane used a value for Basic Shield Capacity that doesn't fit the current Attribute listing for the Hurricane, nor the T2 Hurricane ... nor anything that I could find. So I redid the numbers. The final result for Shield Capacity, Shield Recharge Time and Peak Shied Rate match a Hurricane with the same fit by a pilot with the same skills ... so my guess is that the math is correct. There is a lot of it, though. I tried to explain the process as best I could ... I'd welcome any comments as to parts that are unclear.

The lingering question is whether or not to include additional example fits. These already exist for the ships that are most likely to use shields, and I don't see much benefit in asking people to work through the arithmetic more than once (if it's even a benefit the first time!). But comments on that would be welcome, too. Qwer stoneghost (talk) 15:52, 29 June 2015 (CDT)

Sentry drones

Hi! I saw that you're working on a page about Sentry Drones. I think it's great that you're putting work into improving the Wiki, but could you please see if you can't integrate the information into the existing Drones and Using Drones pages (if it isn't already there)? It would be better to avoid duplicating information and spreading it across too many pages. Noemie Belacqua 06:45, 29 February 2016 (CST)

PvE fittings

Since you are writing about ship fittings for PvE you could also take something from https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Guide_to_combat_sites (don't take the fits too seriously, some of them are pretty bad there). It would be best if you would also link to the fitting guide page there and maybe remove duplicated info and leave only broader info behind. Although you are writing about T1 PvE frigate/cruisers I think the page should cover whole subcap range from frigates to battleships with T2 and faction included. The more specialized T2/faction wouldn't need that much details though since you can expect the reader to know what they are doing once they get those but at least a "these are good ships to train to for X kind of PvE" would be good.Hirmuolio pine (talk) 12:34, 12 September 2017 (CDT)

Thanks - definitely some good help.

The PvE T1 Ships page is intended specifically to help brand new players pick a ship for sites and missions. The problem is overload. There's a constant flow of new players in chat asking about "good ships for level I missions". They get confused by answers that get into the details of missions, combat, fitting ... any and/or all of it. What they really want to know is "what are the ships most people use and why". The idea is that this page link can be given out in chat to help them figure it out.

So I've tried to keep it as simple as possible. Just ships and weapons. Once they start thinking, say, "missiles", and see the ships that use missiles, then there are pages out there for the details. In particular, they can go to the page for the ship itself, which has fittings, skill recommendations and tactical advice.

Also:

  • Added links to the "Advanced Ships" note ... for anyone who came here by accident and wants to get into higher level ships.
  • If new players aren't using T2 or faction ships, then it seems to me that presenting those here would likely add to their confusion. So instead added a link to the Faction Ships Overview, and also the full EVE ship guide.
