Note on Passive Shield Tank rewrite. I moved the basic explanation of how shields work to a new article: [[Shields: How They Work]]. The hope was to create a single article about the shield mechanism without referring to tanking or fitting – one that could be understood by beginners and linked to by other authors. The edited version of Passive Shield Tank links to that article.

The computations for the Hurricane used a value for Basic Shield Capacity that doesn't fit the current Attribute listing for the Hurricane, nor the T2 Hurricane ... nor anything that I could find. So I redid the numbers. The final result for Shield Capacity, Shield Recharge Time and Peak Shied Rate match a Hurricane with the same fit by a pilot with the same skills ... so my guess is that the math is correct. There is a lot of it, though. I tried to explain the process as best I could ... I'd welcome any comments as to parts that are unclear.

The lingering question is whether or not to include additional example fits. These already exist for the ships that are most likely to use shields, and I don't see much benefit in asking people to work through the arithmetic more than once (if it's even a benefit the first time!). But comments on that would be welcome, too.

Revision as of 20:52, 29 June 2015

The proposed revision for "Missile Damage" is complete except for minor edit checking. Given that the original page has needed editing for some number of years, I plan to wait two weeks for comments, and if there is no objection, I will replace the original with the revision. 2015-06-19

I think your new revision of the page is really good! I made a few formatting tweaks (including using collapsible and sortable tables); feel free to use or discard my proposed changes as you see fit.
If you'd like to solicit more feedback on your page, you may want to post a message on the forums (e.g. on the Web Development forum), asking people to take a look. Thanks for your hard work :)
