Unless your character resides near one of the University’s available jumpclone providers, getting jumpclones for your character can be a drag. Wiyrkomi Peace Corps and Khanid Innovation are the chosen providers and are by design in distant, out of the way places. Grinding up standings to 8.0 to get jumpclones on your own may not fit in with how you would like to be playing. Using Estel Arador Corporate Services requires that you drop out of Eve University while you acquire your clone. Consequently, you want to make the most of your jumpclone shopping expedition.

Preparation

The preparation tasks are not necessarily done sequentially. They are a list of things to deal with when planning. The thinking that you do on any one of them may impact all of the other preparation tasks.

Get Infomorph Psychology at least to level 2

The number of jumpclones that you may own is controlled by the level of your Infomorph Psychology skill. One of the key facets of this plan is that in addition to your new clean jumpclone, you acquire an additional jumpclone at the jumpcloning station. So get this skill to at least level 2.

Pick a cloning station

You can find a list of the available EVE Uni jumpclone stations on the Jump Clones wiki page.

Decide if you have additional goals for the expedition

It's probably a long way to the jumpclone station. Wouldn't it be nice if you accomplished something worthwhile beyond the acquiring of a jumpclone out of all this stargate crawling? Since I chose the jumpclone facility at Isikano IX Moon 11, I was able to roll in a Jita shopping trip since Jita is only 3 jumps away from Isikano.

Decide where you would like to have jumpclone(s) pre-positioned at.

The purpose of your jumpclone will determine where you place him. If you are just acquiring a clean PVP body, you will probably be coming right back to pick him up, so the next system over would be fine. I decided it would be nice to have a shopper that can be back in Jita even in wartime so that's where I decided to leave my new clone.

Pick your vessel

Your decisions about secondary goals for the expedition will drive your choice of vessel. A shuttle makes for a nice low drama trip. If you are a risk junkie, go ahead and fill your industrial full of faction modules and set out on your way.

Plan route

You could use the in-game route planner (autopilot), but it's a good idea to try the route on the dotlan site. Dotlan will tell you how many jumps and kills have occurred recently in the systems that you will be travelling through. This will allow you to see if the Commanches are on the warpath somewhere along your route and plan accordingly.

Travel

  • Fly safe. Depending on what other goals you may have for your expedition, make any necessary stops, purchases, ambushes, etc.

Buy clone 1

  • When you get to your destination, dock at station with Wiyrkomi Peace Corps or Khanid Inovation medical facilities
  • Click on the medical facility and the jumpclone tab and buy your clone. This cost 100,000 ISK when I last did it.
  • Prepare a ship (optional). If your plan includes acquiring a new ship for your clone. Do that now. Be careful though, in the case of shuttles, it looks like the sellers are really inflating the prices at the jumpclone station.
  • Board your ship
  • Fly to a nearby station. This station is where you will leave, at least temporarily, the body that you came with.

Activate clone 1

  • Exit your ship. You have to be in capsule to clone. When I did this, I got a free noob ship which I decided to leave there so that the next time I'm at the cloning station I'll have some available transportation.
  • Pause your skills training. You cannot install a clone while skill training is active.
  • Go to the jump clone section of your Character Sheet, select your new, clean clone and click on activate button.
  • Boom ... wake up in the cloning station.
  • Buy another clone (this one makes it easy to come back and get more.)
  • Don't forget to re-activate your skills training
  • Prepare a ship (optional)
  • Fly to a nearby station. This prevents accidentally leaving more than one jumpclone in the same station. Big no-no.
  • Accomplish other local goals
  • Jump again. If you want to return in the body that you brought you will have to jump back to it. This will mandate a 24-hour wait from your previous jumpclone activation, but if you have planned this out, you can find something worthwhile to occupy yourselves with.

Return travel to home station.

You now have two jumpclones,

  • One placed in some useful location
  • One to help you get back to the cloning station in the event that you decide that you need another.
