UniWiki maintenance

UniWiki requires constant maintenance to keep it truthful and beautiful.

Flagging pages that need work
If a page that needs some work, but you do not have the time or knowledge to do it yourself, use the {{verify}}, {{update}}, or {{cleanup}} template.
Give as much information as you can when you flag the page, so the person working on it knows what they should be doing.
Candidates for moving
These pages should be moved by using the drop down menu Drop down menu arrow.png at the top right of the page, next to the search bar.
Check What links here in the toolbox section of the left sidebar and correct any links that are broken as a result of the move.
When you are finished, remove the {{move}} template.
Media to transcribe
Media that needs to be transformed into text, table, or other granular editable form and placed into an article.
Replace media with data format that best fits the article it is in.
When you are finished, remove the Category:Media to transcribe and add {{deletion|Has been transcribed}}to the media.
Pages with broken file links
If a file was deleted or moved, its link will be broken.
If the file is useful, then upload it using Upload file in the toolbox section of the left sidebar. If the file is not useful, then remove the link from the page.
Check whether the same file is linked elsewhere and to remove the links on those pages also.
Uncategorized pages
These pages are not sorted into any Category.
Find a relevant category and add it to the page. Consider creating a new category for a group of uncategorized pages if there is no relevant category exists.
Unused categories
These categories have no pages within them.
If there are no relevant pages for that category, then flag the category for {{deletion}}.
Unused templates
These templates are not used on any pages.
If there are no relevant pages to use that template, then flag the template for {{deletion}}.
Wanted categories
These categories do not yet exist.
If the category is valid, create it and write a short summary. There may be other pages which would fit into the category now it exists.
If the category is not valid, remove the category link from the member pages.
Wanted pages
These are pages which have been linked to, but do not currently exist.
Correct the link to point to the relevant existing page or delete the link to the non-existing page.
Wanted templates
These are templates which have been linked to, but do not exist.
Correct the page to use the correct existing template or delete the link to the non-existing template.

Improving navigation

Good redirects, navigational templates and links help users find information.

Broken redirects
If a page redirects to a page that was deleted or moved, the redirect will be broken. Find a more appropriate place for the page to redirect to or alternatively mark it for {{deletion}} if there is no relevant page for the redirect.
Check whether any other pages link to the deleted/moved page at the same time. To do this click on What links here in the toolbox section of the left sidebar.
Double redirects
These are pages which redirect to one page, which then redirects to another. Edit the redirect for the first page to ensure it points to the eventual destination.
Dead-end pages
These pages do not link to any other page.
Add relevant Navigational templates to the pages or create a new navigational template for a group of orphaned pages.
Orphaned pages
These pages are not linked to from any other page.
Add relevant Navigational templates to the pages or create a new navigational template for a group of orphaned pages.

Candidates for cleanup
These pages should be reformatted or otherwise improved for grammar, typographical errors, organization, readability or formatting.
When you are finished remove the {{cleanup}} template.
Candidates for merging
These pages contain similar information and need to be merged.

Once you are finished remove the {{merge}} template and redirect all pages to your finished page.
Candidates for verification
These pages contain suspect info.
Information should be double-checked and rewritten with correct info if need be.
When you are finished, remove the {{verify}} template.

Feel free to update these pages.
Once you have updated the page remove the {{update}} template.

Feel free to add to these pages to make them into a full page.
Once you are finished remove the {{stub}} template.
Work in Progress
These pages are being actively worked on by an editor.
Feel free to contact the editor and perhaps you can work together on it.
Once you are finished remove the {{work in progress}} template.

These are patch notes that need to be integrated into the existing corpus of knowledge.
Any capsuleer can add patch notes to UniWiki.
Projects
These are substantial changes to UniWiki that require expert knowledge, weeks or months of work to complete or are worked on by more than one editor.
Any capsuleer can take on a UniWiki project.

Administrative tasks

These tasks require administrator UniWiki permission or are for the Wiki Department to do.

Review recent changes
Keep an eye for any significant changes to ensure they are useful and not vandalism. If you have any suggestions on pages people are working on, make them in the editor's Talk page.
Deprecated pages and Deprecated templates
Review the pages and if they no longer have any relevance you may replace the {{deprecated}} template with {{deletion}} template.
Candidates for deletion
Review the pages and see if there is any useful information to be salvaged from them. If not, then delete the page.
Apply the four eyes principle: if you placed the {{deletion}} template, you should have someone else review it.
Correct/remove any links to the page to avoid broken links on other pages. To do this click on What links here in the toolbox section of the left sidebar.
Work in Progress
These are pages which are being worked on by someone.
Keep these under review, and if they have not been worked on in a significant time, remove the {{Work in progress}} template, and if relevant add another template, such as {{Stub}} or {{update}}.

Management tasks

These tasks require bureaucrat UniWiki permission.

Revoke bureaucrat and administrator rights
List users and review who is a bureaucrat and administrator. EVE University Directors and Wiki Manager are bureaucrats and EVE University Managers are administrators.
Revoke rights from users who are no longer EVE University Directors or Managers.
Merge users
List users and see if there are duplicate user names.
Merge users with duplicate user names.
Broken redirects and Double redirects
If there are lots of them, use a bot account to resolve broken and double redirects.
