Corporations (corps) are the player-run organisations that form the foundation of EVE Online's social and strategic gameplay. Choosing the right corporation can significantly enhance a player’s experience in New Eden, offering community, guidance, and shared objectives. This page outlines how to find a corporation that fits a player’s goals and playstyle.
Why Join a Corporation?
While it is possible to play EVE Online solo, joining a corporation provides access to:
- Shared resources, fleets, and infrastructure
- Social interaction and teamwork
- Training and mentorship
- Protection and support in hostile environments
- Opportunities for progression and leadership
How to Search for a Corporation
Players can use several tools and channels to explore corporations:
- In-Game Corporation Finder Tool: Found under the Social menu. Filters by activity, region, time zone, and size.
- EVE Forums – Corporation & Alliance Recruitment (Link)
- EVE Discord Servers and Reddit (EVE Online Discord, /r/evejobs subreddit)
- Third-Party Tools: Sites like Eve Workbench and Dotlan can help evaluate corps and alliances.
Before joining, it is advisable to research a corporation's:
- Activity level and time zone alignment
- Rules and expectations
- Communication tools (Discord, Mumble, forums, etc.)
- Tax rate and available infrastructure
- Culture and leadership style
EVE University: A Training Corporation
- Main article: EVE University
EVE University is a well-established training corporation dedicated to helping new and returning players learn all aspects of EVE Online. It offers:
- Regular classes and Q&A sessions
- A comprehensive wiki
- Access to fleets, mentorship, and shared infrastructure
- No mandatory skillpoint or activity requirements
- A friendly and inclusive environment
While we encourage our members to eventually "graduate" to other corporations or alliances, EVE University provides a strong foundation for any career in New Eden.

Tips for Evaluating a Corporation
- Attend a public fleet or event if available
- Ask questions before applying
- Read any public websites, Discord, or recruitment posts
- Be wary of vague or overly ambitious claims
- Trust your instincts—culture fit is important
Leaving a Corporation
There is no penalty for leaving a corporation. Players may freely leave or switch corps at any time (except during certain war or alliance scenarios). Many players move through several corporations over the course of their EVE career as their goals and playstyle evolve.
