The Ivy League Navy Mission Statement

The Mission of Ivy League Navy is to defend the University’s members, physical and intellectual property, and its ability to carry out educational goals.

The Ivy League Navy Purpose Statement

The Purpose of The Ivy League Navy in times of declared war is to prosecute defensive and offensive actions through leadership and participation. The ILN’s purpose at all other times is to maintain a positive presence in the University’s name, to prepare ILN members to engage in war, and to provide educational experiences to the general University population. The ILN respects the University’s neutrality is all of its actions and its officers are positive models of the Code of Conduct.

About the Ivy League Navy and Officers

All Eve University members are automatically enlisted in the Ivy League Navy (ILN). The ILN is made up of three task forces and an elite team of specialists working together spanning all timezones, ensuring constant protection against outside threats. As a member of the ILN you can participate in fleets in any of the leadership roles as a squad member - simply X-up in Alliance chat when your desired roles is called or start a fleet yourself.

For those wishing to pursue a further career as a leader and educator in the ILN and University, you may want to take the next step and apply to become an ILN Officer. ILN Officers are not permanently attached to one of the four divisions unless selected to a Staff position. The requirements for becoming an ILN Officer are detailed below. If you already meet the requirements, you may apply for a commission as described below. If you're still in the learning process, you may apply for a Midshipman's billet while you complete your Officer requiremnts.

Every Officer and Midshipman selects a home task force for records purposes, but are encouraged to train and engage whenever and wherever they can. The Task Forces have identical offices and staffing, use a common training sylibus and recordkeeping, and standards of performance and advancement are universal across the ILN.

As your abilities and skills increase, your experience and proficiency grow, and your commitment and attitude mature, you may one day be offered an opportunity to join the Office of Strategic Services. The OSS draws it members by invitation only from the three Task Forces. The only application accepted is your performacne with the team.

ILN Officers form the core of the Ivy League Navy, and are responsible for educating newer pilots in player vs. player topics as well as providing leadership for fleets, combat related events, and serving as examples to the University. ILN Officers are held to a higher standard than other University members and are expected to uphold the ideals and goals of the University with them at all times.

In times of peace, the primary goal of ILN Officers is to facilitate and assist other Unistas in pvp related topics and fleets. This is done through teaching classes, answering questions in mumble and in chat, and by acting in leadership roles for fleets or assisting others in those positions.

In wartime, ILN Officers are to provide leadership in defending the University through the planning, forming, and execution of wartime and advanced fleets and tactics. Officers are expected to do so in the addition to providing education and instruction as in peacetime. ILN Officers are also expected to maintain and enforce all wartime policies and may order any Unista to dock up (but not fight or perform other actions).

Officers in the Ivy League Navy agree to serve their commission for a period of at least three months, after which they are eligible for Honorable Discharge upon request. The ILN and The University understand that things change. Early Conditional Discharges are available upon request for those voluntarily leaving the University for other pursuits, with no negative marks.

Because of the added benefits and expectations from the OSS, Officers there are permanenty bound to the team, and are released by special request, back into the University population, to the Task Forces, or out to other pursuits.

All Officers of the ILN agree to follow the chain of command, represent the ILN and the University in a positive manner, and accept the findings of the Military Review Board.
