Ore is the basic material found in the various asteroid fields throughout EVE. In native form asteroid ores cannot be used, but must be refined into their constituent Minerals, which can then be used for ship and equipment manufacture. As a rule of thumb, the refinable value of an ore increases the nearer it's name is to 'A', but at the same time, the minimum units needed to refine and volume also increase. Since mining lasers work in m3 instead of ore units, and the volume of the higher end ores is up to 400 times that of the lowends, it's a good idea to check prices per m3. Currently, there is about a 10 fold difference in the amount one makes per m3 (and therefore, per time) on the best ores versus veldspar. Also, the more valuable an ore type, the further from Empire space you will need to travel to find it. The Ore can be found in asteroids of the same name and most asteroid ores can only be reprocessed in set minimum quantites. Ore is harvested from Asteroids in an Asteroid belt by using Mining Lasers. This differs from Ice, which is harvested from Ice fields by using Ice Harvesters.

Asteroid Ores

Ore found in any higher security area is also found in lower security areas of that region/faction. Ore found in 0.0 space varies wildly from system to system. However, certain ores only appear in 0.0 systems.

Ores of a different racial type and/or lower security status than the system you are in can be found in gravimetric sites using scanner probes.

Each ore type has 3 variations, a standard variation and two "named" variations, with 5% and 10% increased yield each.

Veldspar

Veldspar is one of two types of ore found in all racial space from 1.0 security down. It yields tritanium only, but in large quantities.

Yields:

Standard

Concentrated (+5%)

Dense (+10%)

Scordite

Scordite is the second ore type found in all racial space from 1.0 security downwards. It yields Tritanium and Pyerite.

Yields:

Standard

Condensed (+5%)

Massive (+10%)

Plagioclase

Plagioclase is usually in the top-two hisec ores in terms of value per m3 and is therefore typically highly coveted.

Yields:

Standard

Azure (+5%)

Rich (+10%)

Pyroxeres

Yields:

Standard

Solid (+5%)

Viscous (+10%)

Kernite

Yields:

Standard

Luminous (+5%) 405 Tritanium 812 Mexallon 405 Isogen Fiery (+10%)

Omber

Omber is in fact one of the least worthy ores per m3 of mined volume, and usually appears in the bottom 2 ores of value per m3. It is only typically worth mining if you need isogen for manufacturing.

Yields:

Standard 307 Tritanium 123 Pyerite 307 Isogen Silvery (+5%) 322 Tritanium 129 Pyerite 322 Isogen Golden (+10%) 338 Tritanium 135 Pyerite 338 Isogen

Jaspet

Yields:

Pure (+5%)

Pristine (+10%)

Hemorphite

Yields:

Vivid (+5%)

Radiant (+10%)

Hedbergite

Yields:

Spodumain

Yields:

Standard

Bright (+5%)

Gleaming (+10%)

Crokite

Yields:

Sharp (+5%)

Crystalline (+10%)

Bistot

Yields:

Standard

Triclinic (+5%)

Monoclinic (+10%)

Arkonor

Yields:

Standard

Crimson (+5%)

Prime (+10%)

Mercoxit

Mercoxit is a unique ore in many ways. It is the only ore which yields Morphite, required for all T2 ship production, and requires specialized mining lasers called deep core mining lasers to extract. It also has the risk of producing a damage cloud meaning mining this ore is recommended only for T2 barges which can fit limited tanks.

Yields:

Standard

Magma (+5%)

Vitreous (+10%)
