The objective is to mine the central large asteroid, which contains one of five types of mutanite ore. This asteroid holds 3,500 units (14,000 m³) of ore, which can be sold to NPC buyers in the region for an additional 17.5 million ISK toward the group payout.

Standard procedure is for the logistics ship to take the acceleration gate first and draw enemy fire, followed by the mining venture. Once inside, everyone orbits the large asteroid at close range and begins mining. A TI hauler can also serve as a sixth fleet member, waiting outside the site to collect the mined ore once the operation is complete.
Mining sites found in Gallente space. Operation takes place in deadspace pocket with an acceleration gate that will pass: T1 Frigate (including Navy), T1 Destroyer (including Navy), T1 Cruiser, some T1 Haulers and the Noctis.

Warp in is about 3km from the Asteroid, in the middle of hostile group.
Be advised that enemy ships will aggressively target and destroy any drones deployed during the engagement, making drone usage a risky choice for capsuleers who rely heavily on them for damage or utility.

There are approximately 10-15 frigate, destroyer, and cruiser hostiles.

A fleet of ±15 NPC's consisting of frigates, destroyers, cruisers, and battlecruisers will be present upon arrival. They will concentrate their fire on one capsuleer ship at a time, beginning with the first vessel to enter the site, and may periodically switch targets as a group. An exception applies to hostiles with the ''Atgeir, Smuggler, Corrupted or Wraithful'' prefixes: these will immediately target any drones that are deployed, but will revert to attacking the currently focused capsuleer ship if no drones are present.

since equinox it happens more often that rats are randomly more powerful, using two passive extenders and a active hardener on the ventures does compensate for this.

Main article: Homefront operation
Metaliminal Meteoroid: Caldari Mining

Be advised that enemy ships will aggressively target and destroy any drones deployed during the engagement, making drone usage a risky choice for capsuleers who rely heavily on them for damage or utility.

Using EP-S Gaussian Scoped Mining Laser in the Mining ships will preserve the full 3500 units ore as they do not apply any mining residue.

Fleet size & composition

  • Optimal fleet size: 5 ships
  • Fleet composition: T1 Ventures , T1 Logistic Cruisers (Logi), T1 Hauler

Type of ships allowed

This homefront operation takes place in a deadspace pocket with an acceleration gate that has ship restrictions.

  • Tech 1 frigates, navy and pirate frigates
  • Tech 1 destroyers, navy and pirate destroyers
  • Tech 1 cruisers
  • Tech 1 haulers, including Squall
  • Ventures
  • Noctis

Note: You can view in-game ship restrictions for each Homefront Operation by opening the Opportunities window (ALT+J) and double-clicking on a mission.

Mission parameters

Interaction & standings

Destroying any hostile ships encountered in Metaliminal Meteoroid Homefront operations does not result in any standing gains or losses.

However, when flying these Homefronts in 0.8 and lower hi-sec security systems, additional belt rat spawns can be triggered. These NPCs will split their damage across your fleet, and destroying them will result in a loss of faction standing.

Finding sites

Homefront operations are Cosmic Anomalies located in empire owned High Security systems, mostly focused around trade hubs or career agent systems.

  • Opportunities window > Homefront Operations tab: will render a list of the available homefronts within a limited range.
  • Agency window > Homefront Operations tab: will give you a more detailed filtering ability that allows you to search any region.
  • Probe Scanner > Displays all available anomalies in the system, including their distance in AU, with options to warp or align to them.

Rewards

Rewards for Metaliminal Meteoroid sites come in two forms: (1) ISK payout upon site completion, and (2) one of five site-specific Mutanite ores that can be sold to NPC buy orders. Every site contains 17,500,000 ISK worth of Mutanite ores, not counting sales tax and residue.

Payout amount follows the standard 5-pilot Homefront Operation payout structure, giving the maximum payout per pilot of 15,486,410 ISK with a fleet of 5.

Graph showing ISK Payout per Pilot vs Number of Pilots for 5-person Homefronts, max is 15,486,410 ISK at 5 players
