My proposed change to the Loot from War Targets section of the Wartime Standard Operating Procedures page is below.  The name of this section would change to Wartime Looting and Salvaging.  Along with this change I propose to delete the Wartime and Official ILN Operations Loot Policy page.  This change will consolidate the Wartime loot policy to one place, and make it more coherent.  I did not change anything inherent to the policy in this edit, I just cleaned it up.

Proposed Change:
+
* Configure your overview according to the Uni standard by reading the Overview Guide.  It will be assumed you are using this standard, it is not an option.

Wartime Looting and Salvaging
+
* DO NOT encourage new members to join fleets until they have read and understand all of the following.  Please do not answer simple questions such as how to X up - refer people to the relevant links on the wiki to make sure they actually read them properly instead of simply jumping into a fleet five minutes after they join Uni.  Obviously assisting with clarification if they do not understand something is fine ;)

General Loot Policy
+
* Read The Rookie's Guide To Fleet Ops.
* Nothing in this SOP removes the general Looting and Salvaging restrictions in the EVE University Rules.
+
** If you wish to form a fleet, also read Fleet Formation and Intel and How to properly form a fleet.

+
** FCs, WCs, and SCs should read the Fleet Checklist and Fleet Leadership - you do NOT need in-game leadership skills to perform these roles.  You will however need a microphone and be willing to use it.
Loot from War Targets
+
** Keep questions and chatter out of the Alliance channel.
* All loot and salvage from 'war targets' (and only war targets) is considered property of the Logistics Department. The closest pilot to the wreck has permission to loot and salvage. This loot should be passed to a tanked ship to return to HQ. If you are found to be stealing you will be punished.
+
** Do not talk about fleet locations (or your own, for that matter) outside of your fleet channel. Yes, that does mean you cannot tell a fleet where you are until you have joined it or the FC has convoed you.
* Note, theft of loot from our war target wrecks by out of Corp alts is not permitted. Any Eve University member using an out of Corp alt to steal from Eve University wrecks for personal profit will be considered to have committed Corp theft.
+
** Do not ask "are there any fleets running" - if they are, they should not be communicating with you.  Wait for a new one to be called in Alliance.
 +
*** The ONLY exception to this should be a request to ask if any fleets are available to escort you, should you end up stranded outside Aldrat in a ship larger than a Frigate. Do not give away your location in ANY uni channel - just wait for a fleet to form and send a convo to the FC (do NOT ask for a pickup in Alliance anymore). They are under no obligation to divert their fleet to pick you up - you may just need to leave the ship where it is for now, and head back to Aldrat in a shuttle.
 +
** If you "X up" in Alliance and are not given a fleet invite, make a polite reminder.  If you are still not invited, wait for the next fleet - many fleets may have restricted space, or it may simply be a new FC who missed your request in the multitude.  Also note that FCs are under no obligation to take everyone that X's up.  Missing a fleet is not the end of the world - wait for the next, or start your own. Do not get upset, do not take it personally.

During a Fleet
+
Reporting Intel
* Frigates and small craft close to the wreck will loot/salvage it as quickly as possible.  They will then pass the loot to the Fleet Commander or designated pilot.

* The Fleet Commander or designated pilot will then dock to store loot in safe location until it can be moved back to HQ.

* Note, It is required that all members of the University try to return objects looted from Uni losses to their original owner.

After a Fleet
+
Under no circumstances should the location of any Uni Fleet or Wartarget be reported in any of the standard Uni channels (this includes Alliance and Corp). The enemy often sneak an alt in as a new member during wartime to monitor these channels.
* Optional: Fleet Commanders may use killboard values to split up loot so that people who lost a ship get at least some loot to help cover their loss (up to the price of the ship). Loot distribution is also authorized to cover the cost of fuel used during the fleet.  This process may be conducted by the Fleet Commander or their designated representative, but the Fleet Commander is responsible for ensuring fairness.  Fleet Commanders may show preference to ship types, but not to individual pilots.
+

* Required: Any remaining loot (or all loot if you skipped loss/fuel reimbursement) is to be placed in the War Loot container in the Alpha Hangar at HQ. If you feel it is not safe to return the loot to Aldrat, create an item exchange contract to "reimbursement manager" from where you are.
+
All intel should be reported to your Fleet Commander.  If you do not have a Fleet Commander (due to not being in a fleet), check your Alliance mail for alternatives.
 +

 +
The only channel that should be considered "secure" during wartime is the Fleet channel for the fleet you are currently in.
 +

 +
Intel may be reported in the LiveIntel.ILN chat channel. The password for this can be found under NeoCom > Corporation > Alliance > bulletins
 +

 +
While we appreciate that people may wish to help out by reporting Intel, any valuable tactical information reported in Alliance or Corp channels (or any other method that reaches the entire uni membership) will most likely have the following effects:
 +
* Nobody will wish to act on said intel, as it is no longer of value once it has been widely disseminated across the uni membership.
 +
* Any existing operations relying on the enemy not knowing that we are aware of this intel will likely have to be cancelled.
 +

 +
With a membership as large and open as ours, it is usually safe to assume that the enemy does have at least one alt or friend among us. Keeping intel "need to know" reduces the chance of leaks.

Fleet Operations

  • Configure your overview according to the Uni standard by reading the Overview Guide. It will be assumed you are using this standard, it is not an option.
  • DO NOT encourage new members to join fleets until they have read and understand all of the following. Please do not answer simple questions such as how to X up - refer people to the relevant links on the wiki to make sure they actually read them properly instead of simply jumping into a fleet five minutes after they join Uni. Obviously assisting with clarification if they do not understand something is fine ;)
  • Read The Rookie's Guide To Fleet Ops.
    • If you wish to form a fleet, also read Fleet Formation and Intel and How to properly form a fleet.
    • FCs, WCs, and SCs should read the Fleet Checklist and Fleet Leadership - you do NOT need in-game leadership skills to perform these roles. You will however need a microphone and be willing to use it.

Do not give away your location in ANY uni channel - just wait for a fleet to form and send a convo to the FC (do NOT ask for a pickup in Alliance anymore). Reporting Intel

Under no circumstances should the location of any Uni Fleet or Wartarget be reported in any of the standard Uni channels (this includes Alliance and Corp). The enemy often sneak an alt in as a new member during wartime to monitor these channels.

All intel should be reported to your Fleet Commander. If you do not have a Fleet Commander (due to not being in a fleet), check your Alliance mail for alternatives.

The only channel that should be considered "secure" during wartime is the Fleet channel for the fleet you are currently in.

Intel may be reported in the LiveIntel.ILN chat channel. The password for this can be found under NeoCom > Corporation > Alliance > bulletins

While we appreciate that people may wish to help out by reporting Intel, any valuable tactical information reported in Alliance or Corp channels (or any other method that reaches the entire uni membership) will most likely have the following effects:

  • Nobody will wish to act on said intel, as it is no longer of value once it has been widely disseminated across the uni membership.
  • Any existing operations relying on the enemy not knowing that we are aware of this intel will likely have to be cancelled.

With a membership as large and open as ours, it is usually safe to assume that the enemy does have at least one alt or friend among us. Keeping intel "need to know" reduces the chance of leaks.

Before the Fleet

Fleet Formation

  • Anyone may form a fleet during wartime. The University/ILN makes no restrictions on who may initiate or lead a fleet.
  • Fleets must not be listed in Fleet Finder and must not have any Open Fleet Invites, as this draws the attention of enemy intelligence.
  • Fleets must be held in fleet op rooms in Mumble.
  • Travel Advisories are posted to deter UNI presence in certain systems. Please check your EVEmail prior to departing with a fleet.

After the Fleet

Final Remarks

If you go out and get wiped out, but followed these procedures, it's okay! Anyone flaming or smacking an FC for mistakes will get an unpleasant visit from a high-ranked ILN officer, manager, and/or the Student Advocate. We accept that this is how we all learn PvP. All experienced FCs make mistakes, especially when learning. Losses are acceptable. However, if you consistently experience great losses, then expect to be pulled aside for some advice.

Remember: Few other corps will let you do this! This is your best chance at gaining leadership experience at this level. So don't sit around whining that no one is leading a fleet if the renowned FCs aren't on. Take the opportunity we give you.
