A Wolfpack is a small fleet of small ships, with the purpose of taking down larger solo prey, or smaller prey. The name stems from real animals that use this technique, known as Wolves. Wolves would hunt in small packs, each one on its own powerless to take down their larger prey, but together able to pick them apart and kill it.
The idea of a Wolfpack fleet in Eve is very similar, though it has more varied components. Ideally, there would be a few VERY fast tackle ships, such as interceptors to catch the prey while the rest of the fleet arrives. The ewar frigs will try to jam the target to prevent harm from befalling the others. The rest of the fleet would be comprised of damage dealing frigates such as assault frigates.
My first thoughts on a Wolfpack would contain the following:
• 1-2x Kitsunes for jamming targets up to battlecruiser size
• 2-3 (or more depending on size) Interceptors (mwd fitted) for catching and baiting prey. Any will do, but ones that are known for hunting solo will help hide the presence of a larger fleet
• 5+ assault frigates for killing whatever you find. The more the merrier here, though obviously the idea is to keep the fleet relatively small. While any frigate with damage will do, assault frigs are made for this kind of work
Actual fleet composition can vary, but the idea is always the same: blitzkreig.
