Someone once told me that the road to eternal damnation is paved with good intentions. Welcome to that road, friend. I know people are already mocking the Republic Fleet for its lack of progress here in Ani, but those people don't have a clue about what's really going on here. The Parliament obviously thought it would be enough for us to show up here like we were on some damn military parade and the pirates would fall all over themselves trying to get out of the way. This political blunder has already cost many a good soldier his life. We're not getting any support from back home and morale is at an all time low after we lost our headquarters. You can see what's left of them over there.
Command decided to launch a retaliation attack against the pirates and most of our forces are currently embroiled in the local complex trying to wrench control of it from the Angel Cartel. But the Cartel and us are not the only players out here and I'm not even sure the Cartel was behind the attack on our headquarters. All the same, most of my time is spent on rebuilding our outpost here and give logistic support to our troops in the contested complex. I'm woefully short of staff, meaning many important tasks are not being done. Such as going through the ruins of our former headquarters and retrieve the bodies of our fallen comrades. But such a trivial job is beneath someone of your caliber. I have something more important to ask of you. One of our squadrons in the contested complex was ambushed recently by particularly mean Angels. The pirates are still hovering around the squadron's remains, gloating over their victory. I need someone well acquainted in the arts of war to teach them a lesson, and most importantly, to retrieve the bodies of the Republic pilots so they can be properly treated. I think you're ideally suited for a task such as this, my best men are already engaging the pirates around the system and the soldiers I have here are too green to be of any use. Interested? |
Republic Pilots are found in containers named Podded Pilot in Contested Minmatar Army Complex - First corridor.

Thanks to the efforts of you and other good pilots, a lot of families are getting the bodies of their loved ones back. You can well imagine how important that is, not having to sit in anguish over the fate of those you love. But having those bodies sitting in the Redoubt's freezer isn't accomplishing this, I need to get these bodies to a Fleet station where they can be properly taken care of. I know it sounds as a menial task, and in many ways it is, but getting the bodies of these soldiers quickly and safely back to their loved ones is critical if we're to have any public support back home.
Take care of this for me and I'm bound to have something more suitable to your talents next time around. Just to make it a little more interesting I'll throw in a good amount of bonus reward if you can finish this quickly. |

The loss of our headquarters was a tremendous shock to us. Not only did many good man and women lose their lives there, but it also gave the rest of us a serious fright. The combat efficiency of our troops is abysmal and the worst part of it all is that the desertion rate has climbed dramatically. Only in the last month almost hundred pilots deserted. Most have fled home and they're are out of our reach and not our concern. But some are still around, having joined the rebels, or worse, become brigands themselves. It is the latter I'm especially keen on tracking down.
I need to get out a strong sign that deserters will not be treated kindly. Deserting from the Republic Fleet is treason and is punishable by death. Morale is bad enough as it is and if people start thinking that desertion is the easy way out, our cause is lost. Unfortunately, those that desert, particularly those that go and join the pirates, know this. So they have dug themselves in, waiting for the inevitable repercussion to arrive. That means that those that go after these brigands must have exceptional battle prowess. They will be going up against trained soldiers caught in a corner with nowhere to run. That makes them desperate, and desperate people are always more dangerous. I have marked you as someone capable to handling such a difficult assignment. You will be well rewarded if you choose to hunt these deserters down and bring them back to me. Dead or alive. |

Thanks again for a job well done with those deserters. One of the pilots I've hired to hunt them down managed to catch one alive. He's been in interrogation for awhile now. He was stubborn at first, but we've been persistent and now he's squealing like a pig. Most of it is just gibberish, but some of it's been sensible. And if what he's telling is true, we've got a serious situation on our hands.
It seems that many of these desertions are not just some random panic attacks. There's a Thukker tribe leader, going by the name Norak Pakkul, hiding out in the contested complex here in Traun that actually has the nerve to recruit Republic pilots for his band of gangsters. And with the jittery nerves of our pilots, he's actually been quite successful. Needless to say, this guy has to be brought down before he damages our cause further. The only problem is that you cannot access the room he's in without the proper authorization. The Angels keep a tight control on their access cards, so I've been at a loss on how to get to this guy. But I've been digging around and found out that there is another way. It seems the old Nefantar access cards are still useable. I heard about a guy out by the Sister Camp that had repaired some damaged cards he received and made them operational again. My pilots have brought back all kinds of stuff they've picked up in the contested complex and I actually have a good number of these old Nefantar keycards. All I need are the tools to fix one of these keycards. I want to do this quickly before this Pakkul guy discovers we're on to him and makes himself scarce. So I'm asking you to whisk over into Minmatar space and bring me one of those Fleet repair kits that makes this kind of a job a breeze. Again, I'll make this interesting for you by giving you a good bonus reward if you hurry. Once this is done, we're all set to take this Norak Pakkul out of the picture for good. |

Ok, we're all set to take this Norak Pakkal out of business. The card I gave you gives you and your friends entrance to the inner most room of the contested complex. And you're going to need your friends for this one. You can only enter the room in cruisers, but you should expect some very heavy resistance in there, from what I've heard. Nothing that a pilot of your caliber can't handle, but if my army life has taught me anything it is that the careful survive.
Bring me Pakkul's DNA and I'm authorized to give you a very rare BPC as a reward. |
Norak Pakkul's DNA drops from Norak Pakkul's battleship located in Contested Minmatar Army Complex - Destroyed Nefantar Base. Remember to bring the Repaired Keycard from the previous mission.
