Anchoring this structure takes 45 minutes. This timer is increased to 4.5 hours in Sov Null systems which is not owned by the anchoring alliance.

Following this, a pilot in their capsule can 'board' the moon drill and open the fitting window to online the integrated service module. This causes the module to start consuming fuel and brings the moon drill out of its low power state after a few minutes.
