As stated above, the harder the rats are to kill, the more security status gain they are worth. Systems that have a lower security rating have harder to kill rats and thus are worth more personal security status gain. The most common guidelines suggest killing BS rats in 0.0 space, but obviously you should take all normal precautions for travelling in lowsec or nullsec space. Killing ratting ships is a speciality of many lowsec PC pirate corporations, so beware. For small security status repairs low end highsec such as 0.5 systems yield valuable enough rats over time. | As stated above, the harder the rats are to kill, the more security status gain they are worth. == The mission method ==
Find any questing hub area with 3-5 level 3 or level 4 security missions nearby. Only accept missions that have non empire faction targets as empire targets don't give you a security gain.
#Run a mission until you kill a reasonably high level rat.
#Note what time you killed you the high value rat and what system you killed it in.
#Warp off with the mission unfinished to a different system and pick up a new mission
#Run the mission in the manner of the first mission. Decline or delay any missions that take you to a system that you've killed a high value rat in the last 10-12 minutes.
#Continue in this method until the first mission's rat security gain takes effect(15 mins) and then return to the first mission and continue this process.
#Repeat the same for each of the missions you currently have in progress.
This method is probably slower than general ratting but it's a lot more fun. It also has the side benefit of earning LP and corp rep.
Example: | |||
#Republican fleet level 3 security mission in system A.
#Kill battle cruiser level rat in the first pocket.
#Warp off to second republican fleet security mission hub and pick up a new mission.
#Run mission in system B until you kill a battle cruiser rat.
#Warp off to third republican fleet security mission hub and pick up a new mission.
#Run mission in system C until you kill a battle cruiser rat.
#15 minutes after you killed a battle cruiser in A, return to system A and continue with the first mission until you kill a battle cruiser level rat.
#Repeat | |||
Note: Remember to decline or delay any missions sending you back to a system that you have a security status gain timer going on. Also skip any empire faction missions.
