Repairing security status: Difference between revisions

From EVE University Wiki

As stated above, the harder the rats are to kill, the more security status gain they are worth. Systems that have a lower security rating have harder to kill rats and thus are worth more personal security status gain. The most common guidelines suggest killing BS rats in 0.0 space, but obviously you should take all normal precautions for travelling in lowsec or nullsec space. Killing ratting ships is a speciality of many lowsec PC pirate corporations, so beware. For small security status repairs low end highsec such as 0.5 systems yield valuable enough rats over time.

== The mission method ==
== Example ==

Find any questing hub area with 3-5 level 3 or level 4 security missions nearby. Only accept missions that have non empire faction targets as empire targets don't give you a security gain.
The following example shows you how you might apply all three methods using a constellation having 5 systems (alpha, bravo, charlie, delta, echo).

#Run a mission until you kill a reasonably high level rat.
#Start in Alpha System and pick up an L2 security mission (Pirate Intrusion in Bravo System)
#Note what time you killed you the high value rat and what system you killed it in.
#Travel to Bravo System and pick up an L2 security mission (Cargo Delivery in Delta System)
#Warp off with the mission unfinished to a different system and pick up a new mission
##Start Pirate Intrusion
#Run the mission in the manner of the first mission.  Decline or delay any missions that take you to a system that you've killed a high value rat in the last 10-12 minutes.
##Kill the first high value rat
#Continue in this method  until the first mission's rat security gain takes effect(15 mins) and then return to the first mission and continue this process.
##Note the time
#Repeat the same for each of the missions you currently have in progress.
##Note the system
#Warp to Charlie System
##Scan for anomallies (e.g. WTT-800)
##Warp to WTT-800
##Kill the first high value rat
##Note the time
##Note the system
#Warp to Delta System
##Start Cargo Delivery
##Kill the first high value rat
##Note the time
##Note the system
#Warp to Echo System
##Scan for anomallies
##If no anomallies - check asteriod belt Echo I - Belt 1
##If no rat move to Echo I - Belt 2
##Do not spend more than 5 minutes looking - move on if no rats present
#Warp to Alpha System
##Scan for anomallies
##If no anomallies - check asteriod belt Alpha I - Belt 1
##Kill the first high value rat
##Note the time
##Note the system
#Warp to Bravo
##If your time in Bravo is less than 15 minutes after your last kill in this system - take a bio break
##Once the 15 timer has run out - warp to Pirate Intrusion deadspace pocket
##Kill the first high value rat
##Note the time
##Note the system
#Warp to Charlie
## .... etc ....

Once you have almost completed the security missions - break for the day. Tomorrow the mission will reset and you can kill the rats over again. This is especially important if the mission is a good test of your PvE skills. If the mission is too easy - finish it and see if you can trade up for a new one.

This method is probably slower than general ratting but it's a lot more fun.  It also has the side benefit of earning LP and corp rep.
=== Notes ===

#Skip any empire faction missions - these do not give security status increases.
#The 15 minute time starts as of the time of the last kill in that system, not when you leave it.
#Not all rats give a security status increase.
##Sentry guns for example have a bounty on them but do not give status increase even thou other rats around them may.
##Named NPC targets typically do not give bonuses (e.g. Mercenary Lieutenant)
#Trading up missions doesn't always work - if you get 2 or 3 decent missions you might want to stick with those even if they don't test your PvE abilities. This is because you could end up getting 5 or 6 missions in a row (such as Gone Beserk or Rogue Drone Harrassment) which do not give any security status increase even though they look as if they should.

Example:
== Missions to Avoid ==
#Republican fleet level 3 security mission in system A.
#Kill battle cruiser level rat in the first pocket.
#Warp off to second republican fleet security mission hub and pick up a new mission.
#Run mission in system B until you kill a battle cruiser rat.
#Warp off to third republican fleet security mission hub and pick up a new mission.
#Run mission in system C until you kill a battle cruiser rat.
#15 minutes after you killed a battle cruiser in A, return to system A and continue with the first mission until you kill a battle cruiser level rat.
#Repeat

Certain Missions look as if they should give a security status increase but they don't. The following missions should be declined.

Note: Remember to decline or delay any missions sending you back to a system that you have a security status gain timer going on. Also skip any empire faction missions.
#Any mission that is an empire faction mission (see http://eve-survival.org/ if you are unsure)

#Gone Beserk
#What Comes Around Goes Around
#Silence the Informant
#Rogue Drone Harrassment
#Cut-Throat Competition
