There are also other things that can either be used offensively or defensively like bubbles. For the weapon systems he can help you learn how to use those effectively as for the bubbles while he may not be able to help you use them he can definitely help you learn how to avoid them. He is also charged with the job of helping to come up with strategies that will counter what the current War Targets are doing, this requires a lot of experimentation and therefore it is not uncommon to see some strange fits from the Ensign of Special Tactics. If you believe you have a tactic that may counter what an enemy is doing do not hesitate to contact the ensign, he can help you come up with a plan around your idea. If the plan involves the use of Tech 2 or Tech 3 ships he will know who in the SCOG to contact to make it happen. |

Mission
To provide unistas experience with fleet operations in flying the role that most appeals to them.
What the FOG Can Do For You
Being new in EVE can be a very daunting experience. Usually the first question of a new player asks is “Which skill should I train?” and the answer almost always is “That depends on what you want to do.” The problem is that a new player has no idea what there is to do in EVE. This applies to fleets and PvP too. The FOG will help new player and show them all the roles they can accomplish in fleets.
Another suggestion that is most often given to new players is; “Fly as X Role”. A new player might not be interested in that particular role. The FOG will give you the opportunity to fly Logistics, Damage dealing, Electronic Warfare or whatever other role may interest you in the fleet. We understand that you probably do not have the Skill Points needed to fly the Tech 2 ship that is best for the role, We understand that you just started to play yesterday and have little knowledge of where the controls are. We will guide you along so you can become the best and most effective pilot you can be. All you have to do is contact one of the officers of the Fleet Operations Group that is in charge of the role that interests you and we will help you.
Once a Unista has chosen his preffered fleet role then the FOG officers will direct him to the appropriate branch of the ILN so that he may be trained more fully in his chosen role. The FOG is intended to be the Unista`s first taste of fleet operations, when you interact with the FOG you are just beginning your PvP Career, the SRG and SCOG will continue your training that you started in the FOG.
Officer Roles
Every officer in the FOG is expected to defend Unistas against War Targets. They are expected to form Quick Response Fleets when the need arises. They are also expected to give any fleet commanders (FCs) the respect and support they deserve in order to make the fleet that much more fun.
Captain - Commanding Officer
The Captain oversees the day to day operations of the FOG. He is in charge of answering questions his commanders, lieutenants and ensigns may have. He is also charged with the job of encouraging his officers to be more active when they need to be or point them in the correct direction when they need a compass.
Commander - Executive Officer
The Commander is charged with helping the Captain (or replace him during absences) accomplish his duties. He is also expected to help new players understand the fleet role of Fleet Command, Wing Command and Squad Command. Many new players are curious about these roles and would like some assistance in accomplishing these roles. As such they are expected to be the (temporary) mentor for any player who wishes to do these roles and support them. The entire process will probably last only one fleet but during that fleet the Unista will learn what it is to be FC, WC or SC.
Lieutenants
The Lieutenants are charged with the same roles as the Commander is. It is always wise to have people ready and able to replace a senior officer when said officer is not available. The Lieutenants are also charged with helping the Ensigns accomplish their assigned duties and also help new unistas understand the roles of FC, WC and SC.
Ensigns
Each Ensign has an assigned area of expertise and will provide new unistas with basic information about that area. It is important to understand however that these ensigns are not the end all and be all for knowledge on a specific topic. In most cases they are fairly new unistas themselves that have undertaken the job of learning all there is to learn about their chosen activity, as such they are best placed to introduce new unistas to the role but not to make them to be an expert at it. The job of training a new unistas to be an expert in their chosen fleet roles falls on the SCOG and the SRG. The ensigns have a number of tools at their disposal to help them accomplish their duties. They can become Teachers and give classes via the Universities Teaching department, they can create Events, Practicals or Competitions that will feature their area of specialisation or they can give you advice during a fleet operation.
Damage Dealing Generalist
The role of Damage Dealing is pretty self explanatory, I have a ship, it has weapons I want to hurt the enemy with these weapons. What most fail to understand however is that a combat frigate has just as important a role in big fleets then the combat battleship. What the Ensign of Damage Dealing will do is help you understand how you can best apply the damage that will be most effective in the fleet. That does not necessarily mean you shoot at the primary target.
Tackling & Intercepting Generalist
