The Communications Manager oversees EVE University's Communication Officers and freelance contributors, plans its communications strategy with the CEO and Director of Operations and supports other EVE University departments with creative services. |
Communication Officers
The Communication Officers of EVE University are a group of dedicated volunteers who regularly contribute to the different areas of communications work and have a special role in representing EVE University externally. They are the first point of contact for any Unista wanting to publish or promote their activities to a broader Uni-internal or external audience. Do not hesitate to reach out to them via Discord, the EVE University Forum or simply ingame.

- Chris Halsky
- Arin Mara (Wiki Manager, not Officer, but works closely with Communications)
Joining the department
If you want to express your creativity, feel passionate about communication and want to give back to EVE University, we are always looking for people interested or proficient in the following fields:
- Creating posters and graphics, used in the promotion of staff recruitment, small and large events, public recruitment, propaganda, etc.
- Engaging in and curating different social media channels
- Storytelling and writing long-form text for blog posts: roleplay, player stories, opinion pieces, etc.
- Creating videos or motion graphics
- Promoting and running Uni internal and external events (PvP brawls with friendly corps, mining events, raffles and giveaways etc.) in collaboration with the Events Department.
- The spoken word.
- Anything else related to the concept of communication or creativity in the broadest sense.
The Department is always looking to improve and find new ways to engage with people. If you have a skill that you think would be beneficial but wasn't listed above please consider applying or contact the Communications Manager.
Minimum requirements:
- At minimum an EVE University Freshman progression title. Further progression titles logically speak in your favour.
- Applicants should be comfortable with working on their own initiative and at times having to stick to a deadline.
- Being able to work in tandem with your fellow Communications Officers leads to projects being completed easier and more efficiently.
- Posting on social media requires sticking to our Uni Communications Policy.
- Using the EVE Uni Discord for communication and taking part in projects is a must.
Contact the Manager via Discord if you are interested in applying!
EVE University's Social Media presence
You are very welcome to check out our social media accounts and share and engage as much as you want to.
Many of the communication officers as well as other fellow Unistas are posting regularly on r/eve on Reddit.
Some classes and events are streamed to our Twitch channel and at times uploaded to our YouTube page.
We also have a Facebook page and our own EVE University blog.
Nota Bene (August 2023): With the changes to Twitter/X, we are putting our engagement on the platform on hold.
Resources
We are providing a range of graphic and video material to get you started in case you want to incorporate it in contributions to EVE University promotion e.g. through streaming on Twitch (ideal for holding classes), YouTube content or other audiovisual content that we can use to promote EVE University as a corporation and to provide learning opportunities to capsuleers.
- Selection of UniWiki:EVE University Graphics on our Wiki.
- The EVE University style guide can be used as a guideline in the creation of official Uni media.
- How to stream: Visit our Twitch Streaming Guide.
Freelance contribution
Everyone can contribute to promoting EVE University. The simplest way of supporting us is by talking about your experience in the Uni on any of the social media channels and by guiding players, helping them answer their questions and ideally lightly point them to applying to the Uni.
Creating posters
If you are interested in creating posters (For example: WW2 propaganda-derived works, so ubiquitous in EVE) but do not want to join the staff itself, feel free to give it a shot and reach out to us if you need any help or guidance.
You can also reach out to any Communications Officer if you have questions about picture composition, which programs to use, tips and tricks, and so on. We would also be happy to host them in our Graphics Library if the graphics can be used repeatedly.
Write for EVE University's blog
The best way to share your experience in a long text format is to write for the E-Uni blog.
We welcome contributions from any capsuleer on any appropriate subject, including but not limited to:
- Player Stories (especially from newer capsuleers!)
- News of upcoming events
- Reports of recent events
- After-action reports of major E-UNI engagements
- Opinion pieces on aspects (or changes) to EVE Online may also be submitted, although these should be well-thought-out and insightful, and should state that you are writing as an individual and your opinions may not reflect those of EVE University.
Members of the Comms Department will gladly help with providing feedback on ideas, as well as editorial support.
To submit a post, simply write your text in your preferred text editor (ideally an easily accessible cloud solution like Google Docs) and share it with the Communications Manager (preferably via Discord). Do not worry about getting your spelling & grammar perfect, we will do the proofreading for you!
