This is a hi-sec Gas planet using an Advanced PCC producing a P1 commodity (i.e. Oxygen). There are (9) extractors feeding into (3) storage units into (3) BIFs (basic industrial facilities) with the output routed into a launchpad for export. Each storage unit feeds a single BIF and the launchpad is in the lower center. Link lengths were a problem and limited the number of extractors that could be placed. But resource density was high enough to easily keep (3) BIFs running at full-tilt.

An example of P2 production using a single AIF (Advanced Industrial Facility) fed by (2) BIFs (Basic Industrial Facilities). The AIF is between the two BIFs in this graphic, next to the Launchpad. Each BIF has an associated storage unit along with extractors that pull the required raw materials. The output of (2) BIFs matches up exactly with the input of the AIF, so no buffer storage is required.

The goal of a buffered storage setup like this is to extract more then 6000 units per hour of raw materials using your extractors. The excess material will then begin to stack up in the storage units. The BIFs will then continue to work even as the extractors fall silent, until the storage unit is empty and the BIFs have no more raw material to work with.
