It's not enough to seize a dream; you have to protect it.
This version of the Pioneer was designed in partnership with other Upwell member corporations. Inside top-secret research sites housed in unlisted locations, top designers from multiple corporations came together to help iterate on ORE’s original design. Its combination of expanded shield defense, an expanded drone bay, and superior salvage capabilities have turned the already extremely capable Pioneer into a relentless powerhouse of industry. Summary
The Pioneer Consortium Issue is an enhanced version of the Pioneer mining destroyer. Its mining potential is nearly identical to its T1 counterpart, with the only gain in that respect being a mining critical hit role bonus. The Consortium Issue boasts improved stats otherwise, including a larger ore hold, and bonuses to active shield tanking and salvaging with drones.
Skills
As it is very similar to its T1 counterpart, the skills that can benefit a Pioneer Consortium Issue are also similar.
To improve mining yield
- Mining: Improves mining laser yield by 5% per skill level.
- Mining Destroyer: Improves mining yield by 10% per skill level (hull bonus).
- Mining Upgrades: Allows use of Mining Laser Upgrade low slot modules, boosting yield.
- Mining Drone Operation: Allows for use of mining drones to further boost yield (requires Omega clone status)
To improve survivability
- Evasive Maneuvering: Reduces align times.
- Spaceship Command: Reduces align times.
- Shield Management: Grants a 5% bonus to shield hit points per skill level.
- Shield Upgrades: Reduces shield upgrade powergrid needs by 5%, and allows for better shield extenders to be attached.
- Shield Operation: Reduces shield recharge time by 5%, and allows for different types of shield boosters to be attached.
To improve self-defense against belt rats
- Drones IV: To be able to operate four drones, the amount that the Pioneer Consortium Issue has bandwidth for.
- Light Drone Operation I: Allows use of light combat drones.
To harvest gas
- Gas Cloud Harvesting III: Allows for use of three gas cloud harvesters to maximize the harvest potential of the Pioneer.
To salvage
- Salvage Drone Operation: Allows for use of salvaging drones.
Tactics
While tankier than its T1 counterpart, if the Pioneer Consortium Issue is fit for resource gathering, it is unlikely that the it will be capable of fending off player threats by itself any better than a base Pioneer could. While harder to defang due to a larger drone bay, it is unlikely that additional flights would threaten anything larger than a frigate. Using tools to avoid potential threats before they come, such as the D-Scan and viewing local chat, can help improve survivability in dangerous areas.
