In a peaceful universe, we'd all be free to mission to our heart's content without any interference from griefers or pirates. But (for better or worse) EVE is not a peaceful universe, and the threat of war always looms on the University's horizon. During such times, it's absolutely forbidden to run missions on a University character, even in HiSec, but, barring a lockdown, there is an accepted way to legitimately and (relatively) safely complete them without finding oneself vaporized to space ash by war targets or, worse, one's fellow corpmates. This process requires an alt and the ability to run both characters at the same time. If both characters are on separate subscribed accounts, multiple instances of the client should work (simply open the client twice, or Mac users see this guide); otherwise, two separate computers may be necessary.

In a peaceful universe, we would all be free to mission to our heart's content without any unwanted interference. But, EVE is not a peaceful universe. War seems to loom over the University almost constantly, and during such times it can be dangerous to run missions on your Uni Main as War Targets can engage you without repercussion. This guide will attempt to give instruction on a method of using a second account to complete missions relatively safely while allowing you to continue making progress on your standings with your main.

There are two relevant types of missions: those that require sojourns into deadspace and those that don't. Those that don't (like courier missions) can usually be accomplished easily enough. Simply have an alt do the heavy lifting and leave the University main in station. Complete when done.

Missions that require a trip into deadspace, however, are a little more complicated. Agent bookmarks cannot be passed on to others in any way, and mission objectives are typically not loaded until the player begins the warp to the first deadspace "room." You can, however, warp your fleet to a mission bookmark, and stop your own ship's engines before it aligns and enters warp. The full procedure is detailed below.

One additional option is to accept missions using your alt, keeping your University character safe in the station and in a fleet with the alt. The alt can run missions freely, without regard to the presence or absence of war targets, and can continually share the mission rewards to give your unista the standings gains.

Not only is this process allowed, but it is the only way to complete missions on your University character during wartime. However, make sure to follow the rest of the Wartime SOP while doing so, and remember, if a lockdown is in effect, even this process is off limits.

It's worth mentioning Operation: Fortress in this context. It isn't possible for everyone to participate, nor is it mandatory, however in the Aldrat area it can be just as safe to run missions within the Operation and while on the associated Mumble channel, without requiring a second account.

How to Run a Deadspace Mission with an Alt

 1. Have your University character form a fleet and invite the out-of-corp alt.
 2. Accept the mission.
 3. Bring the alt to the system where deadspace is involved. Dock him.
 4. Make sure that you are flying a cheap ship.
 5. If necessary, travel to the system with the mission bookmark and dock at the same station your alt is at.
 6. Check local for hostiles. Do not undock if there are hostiles in local.
 7. Undock both characters (carefully), alt first. Orbit close (less than 2000 m) to the station or insta-undock.
 8. As fleet commander, warp the fleet towards the mission bookmark. (You can do this in the same right-click-activated context menu where you select "Warp to location".)
 9. Immediately stop your University character's ship by pressing ctrl + space and dock. Do not let your ship enter warp.
 10. Perform the mission on the alt.
 11. Complete mission on the main back at the station. (Whether you split the rewards is up to you.)

Operation: Fortress

It's worth mentioning Operation: Fortress in this context. It isn't possible for everyone to participate, nor is it mandatory, however in the Aldrat area it can be just as safe to run missions within the Operation and while on the associated Mumble channel, without requiring a second account.
