In terms of Caldari design philosophy, the Phoenix is a chip off the old block. With a heavily tweaked missile interface, targeting arrays of surpassing quality and the most advanced shield systems to be found anywhere, it is considered the strongest long-range installation attacker out there. Summary
Caldari Dreadnought. While the large fleet meta is dominated by armor capitals, leaving the Phoenix slightly isolated, it shines in two main roles. One form is a ultra-long range "B52" fit for bashing Upwell structures from beyond their weapons/tackle range. The other main use is as a High Angle Weapon ("HAW") fit, designed to apply huge damage to small targets. A HAW Phoenix fitted with Rapid Torpedo Launchers can apply its DPS to smaller targets better than any other Dread, while carrying a huge active tank, and being virtually immune to Neut pressure. This makes it a favored choice in the very niche community of pilots who attempt to roam solo in Dreadnoughts.
