I watched a video [https://youtu.be/wpdsUKXw-Ck?t=9278 Soe Epic Arc is Easy] made in 2021 and it's true, the Frigates spawn together with the Cruiser, all at once. That's what the Wiki Page currently says too: in Wave 1, 7 Frigates and a single Cruiser spawn. There are no death triggers that spawn additional ships.
