Lorl's quick setup (for pidgin)
Getting logged in
- Download and install Pidgin: [1]
- The Accounts window should open, if not, click accounts > manage accounts
- Click Add
- Set protocol to XMPP
- Username is your forum username, replacing any spaces with periods "." and use your forum password

- Domain is eveuniversity.org
- Set Resource to something, (i.e. desktop, laptop, phone, bob: it doesn't really matter what)
- Probably want to set to remember password
- Click Add!
Getting into a chat room
- In the buddies list, click Tools > Room List
- Ensure account is your university one (only matters if you're on other jabber servers too)
- Click on Get List
- Ensure that the conference server is: conference.eveuniversity.org click on Find Rooms
- Click on the channel you want to join, then join!

The main chat room is currently called "e-uni"
Making your own chat room
As in "Getting into a chat room," except: instead of #5:
- Click Add Chat
- Give your room a name, and a password if you want, then click add
- Go back to your buddy list, and double click on the chat you created.
- If you want a basic, temporary non password protected room, just click Accept Defaults, otherwise Configure Room:
- If clicked configure, change settings as you wish, be sure to click Make room password protected, and insert the password you picked if you want it to be password protected.
- To later change settings, type "/config" in the chat room.

Getting logged in
- Download and install Trillian: [2]
- Once installed go to manage accounts, then add a new account. Select Jabber/XMPP as the protocol.
- The username is your forum user name with any spaces replaced by "." followed by @eveuniversity.org. Your password is your forum password
Getting into a chat room
- Click the v shaped icon on the main window.
- Select browse for conferences in the drop down menu.
- Select the channel you want to join.
