Regional Trade Hub: [http://evemaps.dotlan.net/station/Octanneve_III_-_Moon_1_-_Federation_Customs_Logistic_Support Octanneve III – Moon 1 – Federation Customs Logistics Support]

The main advantage is the confined nature of the area, so enemies of war ("WTs") have a harder time to get here. While nowhere in New Eden is completely safe, there are far fewer WT here. The confined nature also makes it easier for us to organize awareness of the current position if a WT makes it here. So watch next to the usual Liveintel.ILN also Solitude.E-UNI. Think of it like a meerkat manor constantly on the watch.

Prices on the Solitude market are higher than at the trade hubs in the empire. However, this also means you can sell your stuff higher and is a trade opportunity if you have the means to get stuff here.

You help the project by being here: by missioning here, by mining here, by exploring here, by producing stuff here, by hauling here, by buying here, by selling here, by trading here!

In a nutshell, the primary aim of Project Solitude is to establish a University presence in a high-sec pocket surrounded by low-sec and 0.0 space, and to help build a centralised trade hub for the region.
:If you don't have any implants in your current [[Jump Clones | clone]], and your new medical clones are fairly cheap, you can take "the pod express". Simply change your medical clone location to one of the stations in Oerse, and then self destruct your pod. It may be a good idea to get a jump clone in the empire first. After you wake up in Solitude, simply buy a new ship here.

:This is a [http://evemaps.dotlan.net/route/2:Bherdasopt:Gonditsa:Otakod:Agaullores:Yveve:Yvelet:Oerse long route] via Arida, from Bherdasopt (hisec) through Gonditsa, Otakod, Agaullores and Yveve to Yvelet (hisec).  The biggest risk of this particular path is a persistent gatecamp just off Bherdasopt gate in Gonditsa.  If you are taking this route to reach Solitude — or to get back out towards Aldrat again — you may want to contact the University's [[Low-Sec Camp]] in order to check if the gate is clear.  The LSC is based not far from Gonditsa, and so generally keeps eyes on that area.

== Overview of the Solitude Region ==

;Via Null-Sec:

[http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/Solitude Solitude] is a smallish region consisting of only 43 systems under the sovereignty of the Gallente Federation. Wedged between [http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/Aridia Aridia] and [http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/Syndicate Syndicate], it is made up of roughly two large parts. To the west of the region is a low-sec area bordering both Syndicate and Aridia with the home of the [http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Low-Sec_Camp LSC] only a few jumps away. To the east is a high-sec pocket consisting of 17 systems with a second entrance to Syndicate. This pocket also contains the systems of [http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/Solitude/Oerse Oerse] where the E-Uni regional HQ is located, and [http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/Solitude/Octanneve Octanneve], which has been chosen as the place to establish a trade hub. A further high-sec pocket of 3 systems can be found to the north of the region.
:There are two possible routes available, both of which go through Syndicate and are considerably shorter than the above Low-Sec route.

:[http://evemaps.dotlan.net/route/Stacmon:Ostingele:Harroule:MHC-R3:6E-578:ZVN5-H:8-JYPM:M2-CF1:97X-CH:Y9G-KS:Pertnineere:Boystin Route 1: Stacmon (Placid):] This route goes from Stacmon (0.6) via two Low-Sec systems (Ostingele and Harroule) and enters Syndicate at MHC-R3. It then carries on via 6E-578, ZVN5-H, 8-JYPM, M2-CF1, 97X-CH, Y9G-KS and enters Solitude in the Low-Sec system of Pertnineere and into the High-Sec pocket in Boystin.

After weighting the pro’s and con’s, members already living in the area settled on [http://evemaps.dotlan.net/station/Octanneve_III_-_Moon_1_-_Federation_Customs_Logistic_Support Octanneve III – Moon 1 - Federation Customs Logistics Support] as the station of choice for the regional trade hub. People are of course free to put up their sales orders in any station they desire. However, in order to help achieve the goal of a centralised trading hub, it is advised to use Octanneve III-1 for trading activities as much as possible.

:[http://evemaps.dotlan.net/route/Chesiette:Reblier:6-CZ49:PVH8-0:JH-M2W:M2-CF1:97X-CH:Y9G-KS:Pertnineere:Boystin Route 2: Chesiette (Verge Vendor):] This route goes from Chesiette (0.6) via the Low-Sec system of Reblier and enters Syndicate at 6-CZ49. It then carries on via PVH8-0,  JH-2MW and M2-CF1 where it follows the remainder of the route to Oerse as mentioned above.

:Note that the jump between M2-CF1 and 97X-CH is a bottleneck. Quite often, the gate in M2-CF1 has a few small bubbles, although it is not always camped. The Syndicate entry system 6-CZ49 has also always many bubbles. Especially 6-CZ46 to Reblier gate can have 6 bubbles that are hard to avoid. Again, this gate is not always camped.

Living in Solitude has certain advantages over the main high-sec Empire regions. Having said that, the confined nature of the area also has its challenges. Things to be considered before deciding whether to move or not are:

;Via a Wormhole:
+
==== Advantages ====
:There is an active scanning program within the pocket and hisec-to-hisec wormholes are found on a regular basis.  Both ends of the wormhole are bookmarked and placed in the Project Solitude folder of the corporate bookmarks.  This means members can use those via corp bookmarks to move assets/trade etc into the region without having to go through losec/nullsec.  This is a great way to get valuable ships and cargo into the pocket with minimal risk.

;Via courier:
+
*Less WT’s than can be found in and around Aldrat
:Black Frog or other couriers move assets in and out of the area, although this can be quite costly.  Black Frog, for example, charges 100,000,000 ISK to move up to 320,000 m3 from Aldrat to Oerse. You can't move yourself this way! See the [http://black-frog.red-frog.org/jumps.php Black Frog site].
+
*Easier to organize awareness of WT’s in the region and their location
 +
*Enough fellow Unista’s are always close by to help out with missions and running complexes
 +
*Significantly shorter waiting times and reduced cost for use of public research installations
 +
*Easier access to low-sec PI while still living in the relative safety of high-sec
 +
*Ditto for low-sec ores

;Via Jump Freighter or carrier:
+
==== Disadvantages ====
:This is an option if you have them, but they should be out of corp. If things get popular, we may jump things in/out ourselves.

==Scanning==
+
*Limited availability of items on the local market
Scanning is a great way to contribute to the success of Project Solitude.  We are currently working on organizing this effort and need a volunteer to lead and organize the effort to meet the goal set for Scanning. We aim to scan all 17 HighSec Systems multiple times a day. There is a Google doc that lists who scanned what system last; please ask your fellow explorers in Solitude.E-UNI for a link.
+
*Some items are hard to come by or not available at all
 +
*Moderate to reasonably higher prices for items that are available on the market
 +
*Shipping stuff in and out of the region can be a challenge
 +
*Certain Uni programs (BOYM / POYS / Ship Replacement Program) are yet to be extended to Solitude

==Logistics==

More details to follow.  We need to establish a logistics train to move materials back and forth to HiSec.  We want to do this in an organized manner, we are just not setup to organize it yet.

While the corp headquarters are setup in [http://evemaps.dotlan.net/station/Oerse_VI_-_Moon_10_-_Quafe_Company_Retail_Center Oerse VI - Moon 10 - Quafe Company Retail Center], it has been decided to make [http://evemaps.dotlan.net/station/Octanneve_III_-_Moon_1_-_Federation_Customs_Logistic_Support Octanneve III -Moon 1 Federation Customs Logistic Support] the primary trade hub for the region. No one in particular outside of the Uni management…! Project Solitude is a consolidated effort of volunteers and pioneers with the aim to establish an area where people can flourishAlthough there are no restrictions on venturing into low-sec and null-sec space, the project mainly revolves around the larger high-sec pocket in the region. As such, no additional rules and procedures are required. This is not to say that members are exempt from those rules already established by the Uni. Although Solitude is located far from the prying eyes of the management, E-Uni SOP, ROE and WSOP procedures should be followed at all times. Living in Solitude is no different than living in or around Aldrat.

==Mining==

We need more miners in the pocket.  Industrialists can help by setting up mineral buy orders, which will encourage the miners to mine.  This will bring more minerals for the industrialists, who can then build more ships and modules.

The [http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Amarr_Mining_Camp Amarr Mining Camp] now has a satellite office established in Solitude. While the AMC has a solid OpSec plan for the AMC HQ area, the operational security needs of the Solitude Office are still in discussion and thus its location is not listed here at this time. For the time being, just ask any of the AMC organizers in AMC Chat or Mumble.

There are only two possible routes to Solitude via known space. One goes via a low-sec pipe trough Aridia, the other via a null-sec pipe trough Syndicate. Although it is relatively easy to reach the high-sec pocket in a fast frigate (or even a shuttle), shipping stuff in and out poses more of a challenge. As such an active scanning program is in place to find wormholes leading directly to Empire.
There is a [http://forum.eveuniversity.org/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=57010 forum thread] outlining the most requested modules. The market is short on ships...particularly the more popular hulls. There is a noteworthy lack of competition in the Pocket right now with many items selling out as fast as they are put on the market.  Lot of ISK to be made.

==BYOM/PYOS==
+
Participating in the scanning endeavour is not mandatory, but is highly encouraged. There are very little requirements for members wanting to help out finding those precious wormholes. All that is needed to start out is a frigate and some training of the Astrometrics skill. Probe launchers and scanning probes are freely available from the Uni hangar in Oerse for those who need them.
Not Yet!  Having an active and vibrant BYOM/PYOS program will be a sure sign that Solitude is a sustainable place to live.

==Education/Events==

Classes that do not have a practical are not impacted by residing in Sol.  The goal is to get teachers give at least some of there practicals in Solitude.  Solitude pilots can help by signing up for classes and specifically requesting practicals in Solitude.  We are going to need a sense of how many pilots want to participate in particular classes/events.  Eventually, we want to request classes to be conducted in Solitude.

==Skillbooks==
+
The only mandatory requirement for a life in Solitude is a healthy dose of pioneer/explorer spirit along with a determination to overcome the challenges of living in a confined high-sec area. All other skills are optional. Project Solitude is open to members of all levels: from people who only just started out in EVE and are new to the Uni, to advanced industrialists, explorers, PVP’ers, etc…
NPC seeded Skillbooks in Solitude can be bought at the Federal Navy Academy in Elore (Elore VI – Moon 4). Note that Elore is a Low-Sec system (0.2) two jumps outside the main High-Sec pocket.

An Insta-Dock and Insta-Undock bookmark are available for this station in the Project Solitude bookmarks folder. Both should be clearly marked. More information is available in the bookmark notes. To view the notes, right-click the bookmarks and select ''Edit/View Location''.

When picking up skillbooks in Elore, it is highly recommended to travel to the station in a shuttle and inject the new skill(s) before undocking.

Mission Statement

“To establish a University presence and trade hub in the Solitude region.”

Project Solitude Background

Towards the end of July 2012, the Eve University management decided to launch project Solitude. The initial announcement by CEO Kelduum Revaan outlining a brief history of the Uni and putting this project in its context can be found here.

In a nutshell, the primary aim of Project Solitude is to establish a University presence in a high-sec pocket surrounded by low-sec and 0.0 space, and to help build a centralised trade hub for the region.

Overview of the Solitude Region

Solitude is a smallish region consisting of only 43 systems under the sovereignty of the Gallente Federation. Wedged between Aridia and Syndicate, it is made up of roughly two large parts. To the west of the region is a low-sec area bordering both Syndicate and Aridia with the home of the LSC only a few jumps away. To the east is a high-sec pocket consisting of 17 systems with a second entrance to Syndicate. This pocket also contains the systems of Oerse where the E-Uni regional HQ is located, and Octanneve, which has been chosen as the place to establish a trade hub. A further high-sec pocket of 3 systems can be found to the north of the region.

After weighting the pro’s and con’s, members already living in the area settled on Octanneve III – Moon 1 - Federation Customs Logistics Support as the station of choice for the regional trade hub. People are of course free to put up their sales orders in any station they desire. However, in order to help achieve the goal of a centralised trading hub, it is advised to use Octanneve III-1 for trading activities as much as possible.

What it means to live in Solitude

Living in Solitude has certain advantages over the main high-sec Empire regions. Having said that, the confined nature of the area also has its challenges. Things to be considered before deciding whether to move or not are:

Advantages

  • Less WT’s than can be found in and around Aldrat
  • Easier to organize awareness of WT’s in the region and their location
  • Enough fellow Unista’s are always close by to help out with missions and running complexes
  • Significantly shorter waiting times and reduced cost for use of public research installations
  • Easier access to low-sec PI while still living in the relative safety of high-sec
  • Ditto for low-sec ores

Disadvantages

  • Limited availability of items on the local market
  • Some items are hard to come by or not available at all
  • Moderate to reasonably higher prices for items that are available on the market
  • Shipping stuff in and out of the region can be a challenge
  • Certain Uni programs (BOYM / POYS / Ship Replacement Program) are yet to be extended to Solitude

Who runs the project?

No one in particular outside of the Uni management…! Project Solitude is a consolidated effort of volunteers and pioneers with the aim to establish an area where people can flourish. Although there are no restrictions on venturing into low-sec and null-sec space, the project mainly revolves around the larger high-sec pocket in the region.

The 'Solitude Coordinated Scanning Endeavour'

There are only two possible routes to Solitude via known space. One goes via a low-sec pipe trough Aridia, the other via a null-sec pipe trough Syndicate. Although it is relatively easy to reach the high-sec pocket in a fast frigate (or even a shuttle), shipping stuff in and out poses more of a challenge. As such an active scanning program is in place to find wormholes leading directly to Empire.

What do I need to become a 'Solidude'?

The only mandatory requirement for a life in Solitude is a healthy dose of pioneer/explorer spirit along with a determination to overcome the challenges of living in a confined high-sec area. All other skills are optional. Project Solitude is open to members of all levels: from people who only just started out in EVE and are new to the Uni, to advanced industrialists, explorers, PVP’ers, etc…

How to get to Solitude

Taking the 'Pod Express'

  • As long as you don’t have any implants in your clone and your new medical clone is fairly cheap, you can travel to Solitude by “Pod Express”. Change your medical clone location to one of the stations in Oerse and then self-destruct your pod. It might be a good idea to get a jump clone in empire first so you can jump back to HQ if need be.

Dodging pirates in low-sec

  • This is the long route via Aridia , from Bherdasopt (high-sec) through Gondista, Otakod, Agaullores anf Yveve to Yvelet (high-sec). The biggest risk of this particular route is a persistent gatecamp just of the Bherdasopt gate in Gondista. When planning to take this route, it might be a good idea to contact the LSC and check if the area is safe.

Facing the quiet dangers of null-sec

  • For those brave enough to venture into null-sec, there are two possible routes through Syndicate to get to Solitude:
    • Route1 starts in Stacmon (0.6) and goes through two low-sec systems (Ostingele and Harroule) and enters Syndicate at MHC-R3. It then carries on via M2-CF1, Y9G-KS, Pertnineere (low-sec) and then Boystin (high-sec)
    • Route 2 starts in Chesiette and goes through one low-sec system (Reblier) and enters Syndicate at 6-CZ49. This route also ends up at M2-CF1 and follows the rest of the path to Solitude as mentioned above.
  • Please visit the Solitude.E-Uni channel before travelling through Syndicate. The above mentioned pipes are frequently bring travelled by members already based in Solitude and some viable intel might be available.

Jumping down a Rabbit Hole...

  • … or a wormhole to be exact. The ‘Solitude Co-ordinated Scanning Endeavour’ finds hisec-to-hisec wormholes on average two to three times a week. This makes it a lot easier for those wanting to move assets into the region without having to go through the dangerous low-sec of null-sec pipes. Entry and exit points for active WH’s can usually be found in the Project Solitude bookmarks folder. Making use of courier services

  • Wormholes have a limited time and mass. As such, it might not always be possible for members to make good use of them. An alternative is to use a courier to move assets into the region. Although there are many courier services around, Black Frog is probably the best known. Note though that using courier services can be a quite costly exercise. Black For example, charges 100,000,000 ISK to move up to 320,000 m3 from Aldrat to Oerse.
