Overview
- page for sample POS setups
- grouped by security status of space where the POS will be placed since that seems to be the major determining factor in how you set things up
Hi-Sec Setups (0.5-0.7)
Small Research Tower
- 1 Small Tower, Caldari is popular
- 3-4 Mobile Laboratory or (2-3) Advanced Mobile Laboratory
This is the barebones hi-sec research POS. Because it is located in high security space, there is no need to anchor defenses. If the corporation or alliance is wardec'd then you should plan on taking the labs and tower down completely. Defenses are basically pointless on a small tower, other then for the amusement factor. You could, however, consider anchoring 8-12 ECM modules just to make the task more difficult.
Medium Research Tower
- 1 Medium Tower
- Mix of Mobile Labs and Advanced Mobile Labs
The Caldari medium tower will allow for (7) Mobile Labs while the Amarr tower will only allow you to anchor (5) Mobile Labs.
Medium towers in high security space can be defended against smaller attacks, but will not survive a large-scale attack force. A generalized defensive setup for a medium tower would be comprised of:
- 24-36 ECM (a mix of the 4 types)
- 2-6 Sensor Damps
- 2-6 Stasis Web batteries
- 6 short-range small weapons
- 6 long-range small weapons
- 2-6 short-range medium weapons
- 2-6 long-range medium weapons
- 2-6 warp disruptors / scramblers
- 9 shield hardeners (to allow for a 3/3/2/1 setup)
Deathstar
- 1 Large Tower
- 36-48 ECM (a mix of the 4 types)
- 4-8 Sensor Damps
- 4-8 Stasis Web batteries
- 12-24 short-range small weapons
- 12-24 long-range small weapons
- 6-12 short-range medium weapons
- 6-12 long-range medium weapons
- 2-6 warp disruptors / scramblers
- 9 shield hardeners (to allow for a 3/3/2/1 setup)
Large towers are almost always worth defending. In general, for high security research towers, most defenses will be left offline until the corporation is wardec'd. At which point, those who are in charge of the tower will have to decide how many labs and arrays to take offline in order to bring defenses online.
