This subcategory contains information on common ships in Eve.

T1 Frigates

Mining

Mining frigates all have bonuses geared toward mining, and while a great start for any would-be miner, they are notoriously bad in combat situations.

Electronic Warfare

Electronic Warfare frigates all have bonusses to EW modules, such as the Target Painter, ECM modules, Remote Sensor Damper and Tracking Disruptor. In a small pack, and with some support ships to deal damage, they can be formidable.

  • Crucifier Tracking Disrupt, nice ewar support. Little to no tank/damage so dies fast.
  • Griffin ECM. Nasty, kill it fast. Little to no tank/damage so dies fast if you can lock and hit it.
  • Maulus Damps, decent ewar support. Little to no tank/damage so dies fast.
  • Vigil Target Painter. Offensive ewar. Small ships' bane, but next to useless against BC/BS sized hulls.

Exploration

Geared toward exploration and scanning, the 'Exploration' class of T1 Frigates all have bonuses to aid in scanning. Fitted with a Core Probe launcher, they can make a good cheap alternative to the Tech 2 Covert Ops variants.

Tackler

Tackler frigates, often called 'Fast Frigates', are built to align and reach their top speed quickly. This makes them ideal as platforms for tackling larger vessels, as they can reach them and use relevant modules a great deal faster than most. These ships are also ideal for fast travel or small cargo runs and they make a great alternative to a shuttle, especially in losec or during wars, as they can typically enter warp from cloak before the enemy can lock them.

Damage Dealer

Damage Dealer frigates are typically split into two sub categories, Launcher and Turret, as they have slightly different focuses. In general, they tend to have the ability to take a little more damage than their counterparts and deal out a little more damage in return, but they are little match for a larger ship when alone. Interestingly, the Gallente have two turret-focussed ships, as they do not tend to use missiles - although the Tristan can fit launchers, it receives no bonus for them.

Launcher

Turret

  • Punisher Heavily tanked, good dps (for a frigate). Pulses give it a nice range variation. Slower. 2 mid slots make it a poor tackler.
  • Merlin
  • Atron
  • Tristan Fat and stupid. Rather useless because of the split turret/launcher hardpoints, kill last.
  • Rifter High DPS, fast and effective frigate. Primary role as tackle or frigate DPS. Buffer tanked usually.

Interceptors

  • Claw: Fastest Interceptor, decent dogfighter.
  • Siletto: Perhaps the best tackle interceptor due to slot layout.
  • Taranis: Slower Interceptor, one of the best dogfighting frigates.
  • Ares: Gallente tackle interceptor.
  • Crow: Kite missile spam.
  • Raptor: Caldari tackle interceptor rather overshadowed by the crow despite having a longer range point.

Stealth Bombers

All: No tank, all gank. Close in, high damage, can warp cloaked and is the bane of large ships. Bomb launchers in nullsec. An early primary. In groups, flown well, can take down carriers.

Assault Frigates

  • Jaguar: Usually shield tanked AF. Decent damage and good tackling bird.
  • Wolf: High damage gank AF. 2 midslots gives it limited tackle but 4 lows and 4 turret hardpoints make it nasty.
  • Retribution: Another nasty little AF. Useless solo due to its one midslot, but mean with support because of its lows and highs.
  • Ishkur: 5 light drones, 3 turrets with a damage bonus on an AF, 3 mids/lows... Enough said.
  • Harpy: Heavily tanked and can usually outlast most other AF's. Very dangerous if you are willing to invest enough isk.

T1 Destroyers

All: The destroyer is a class of ship that is larger than a frigate. It has a larger signature radius and will thus take more damage from larger ships than a Frigate will.

Destroyers also have more high slots than Frigates, which allow for fitting more weapons to chew through L1 missions more quickly than the smaller frigate. All destroyer class ships are specialized for direct damage weapons (e.g. blasters, rails, etc.) rather than missiles.

Another role that destroyers excel in are use as salvage vessels. With the large number of high slots, destroyers can handle numerous Salvager and Tractor_Beam modules.

Each race has only one destroyer class ship.

Interdictors

All: Same as T1 destroyers but can drop a mobile disruption bubble and has slightly better survivability.

T1 Cruiser

Mining Cruiser

Similiar to the mining frigates, these ships receive bonuses to either mining turret or mining drone yields. The Osprey is known for being able to outmine the smallest mining barge, the Procurer.

  • Osprey
  • Arbitrator Very versatile, decent damage, ewar bonus, and good tank. Not to be underestimated.
  • Vexor Same as Thorax but add more drones. Probably the nastiest solo T1 cruiser. Gets nastier nicely as your skills go up -- can field 3 T2 sentry drones.
  • Scythe

Electronic Warfare

Unsorted

  • Caracal: More like Crapacal. Kills frigates fast with AMLs, though.
  • Rupture: High DPS, good tank, very dangerous when it gets in close.
  • Thorax: Same as Rupture but add 5 medium drones.
  • Celestis: Will always be primaried last, and can tank well. Use if you're FC in a small-ships fleet.
  • Maller: Tanks like a BC but poor DPS.

Heavy Assault Cruiser

  • Cerberus: Does what a Drake can but at 4x the cost. Better at long ranges.
  • Muninn: Great sniper HAC, can be nasty. Performs like a better tanked Rupture at close range.
  • Vagabond: Nasty damage and good tackle, quick and agile, good in a gang. Will melt quickly if locked down.
  • Ishtar: Great tank, high damage, quite a dangerous HAC. Drone dependent, but can carry multiple flights of heavies or sentries.
  • Deimos: Heavy tank, decent damage but slow for a HAC.
  • Zealot: Overrated but versatile. Does well close range, sniper, buffer, active, but master of none.
  • Sacrilege: Underrated. Tanks like a beast, decent damage with HAMS. Active tank.

Recon

  • Falcon/Rook: ECM boats. Falcon can fit cov-ops cloak. Nasty opponents, though the Falcon's range has recently been reduced. Weak tank.
  • Arazu/Lachesis: Sensor Damps + extended Disrupt/Scram range. Very helpful support Recon but lacking solo. Can be nasty if it can keep you out of targeting range. Arazu can fit cov-ops cloak.
  • Huginn/Rapier: Target Painter + extended Stasis Web range. Smaller ships' nightmare but lacking a purpose against larger ships. Rapier can fit cov-ops cloak.
  • Pilgrim/Curse: Tracking Disrupts + extended Nos/Neut range. Mean and nasty, decent damage for a recon, and can tank well. Pain in the ass and should die in a car fire. Pilgrim can fit cov-ops cloak.

Heavy Interdictor Cruiser

All: There are few differences between the HIC's other then their ability to tank and damage output. Made to tank, they can take a huge beating and throw out moderate damage. Either creates a bubble around its hull or puts an infinite-strength point on something.

T1 Battlecruisers

  • Hurricane: High DPS and quick for a BC. Can be dangerous to nearly any sized hull if used right.
  • Harbinger: Same as Hurricane but can dish more damage and tank a little better. Dependent on cap like most Energy Turret ships.
  • Drake: Depending on how it's fit, can either have a massive tank, or deal decent damage.
  • Myrmidon: Usually active tanked, drone-using offensive BC. Versatile and effective. Can also be shield-tanked like a Drake.
  • Brutix: Blasterboat, high point-blank dps, usually not well tanked. Sometimes shield-tanked for speed and to clear lowslots for damage mods.
  • Prophecy: Can tank better then some BS's. Usually bait. Low DPS.

Command Ships

All: Tank better, out-damage, and outperform their T1 counterparts. Give bonuses to gangs/fleets. Can be very effective and nasty and are not something to shrug off in any engagement.

T1 Battleships

  • Tempest: High DPS, gank > tank. Good RR'r or Minny sniper.
  • Typhoon: Very versatile, can be used for almost anything. Quite dangerous at high SP.
  • Raven: Most effective Caldari BS for most situations. Usually heavily tanked.
  • Rokh: Caldari sniper, although can be nasty with a good blaster fit at close range. Longest range in the game, when properly fit.
  • Scorpion: ECM boat, low DPS. Can shut you down from 150KM; armor tanks; good in RR-gangs. Not a solo boat. Frequently primaried.
  • Megathron: Sickening amount of damage at close range. Also used as a sniper. A solid primary when calling BS's.
  • Dominix: Drone boat. Versatile; lots of grid/cpu/cap. Good for remote reps or heavily neuting targets. With multiple flights of T2 sentry or heavy drones, can do a lot of damage.
  • Armageddon: Its name says it all. Huge DPS, can have a sickening buffer tank, good RR's, tosses 5 heavy drones. Very nasty.
  • Apocalypse: Sniper.
  • Abaddon: Monstrous tank and decent damage. A beast.

Marauders

All: Outtanks and outdamages the T1 Battleships. Big price tag and a wonderful kill when you nail one. Poor sensor strength -- ECM jams 'em easily even with ECCM fitted.

Dreadnought

Tech 1 capital ships created for extended sieges of stationary installations.

Industrial

Tech 1 ships built for the transportation of vast amounts of cargo.

Industrial ships require the Racial Industrial skill to be trained. These skills cannot be trained on Trial Accounts.
