Resistances: The amount of incoming damage can be lowered by increasing the resistances of your ship. There are four types of damage you can receive(generally a combination of some): EM {{icon|em resist|16}}{{icon|em damage|16}}, Thermal{{icon|th resist|16}}{{icon|th damage|16}}, Kinetic{{icon|ki resist|16}}{{icon|ki damage|16}}, Explosive{{icon|ex resist|16}}{{icon|ex damage|16}}.
EHP(Effectice HP): The amount of damage a ship can take after fitting and resistances are calculated. Resistances lower the amount of incoming damage but don't increase your raw hitpoints.
