What is Slack?
Slack is a platform for team communication: everything in one place, instantly searchable, available wherever you go. EVE University has been using Slack for a while within each of the campuses and communities.
Different chat channels are used for different purposes. As well Slack allows pinging, both to mobile and email, for various reasons; including PvP and PvE events.
How to Join Slack
Each campus and community has a similar way of joining their Slack, you will need to visit their forum posts for details:
If you have any issues joining their slack, look on those posts for whom to contact.
Channel Chat and Ping Etiquette
- #General: Use this channel for your general chat, banter, whatever, just keep it with in the Uni Chat rules
- #PingPvP: Use this for when a fleet is forming, either a QRF or a preplanned fleet. (Forming as in, doing the x-up undocking soon, not forming in an hour)
- #PingMisc: For announcments that everyone needs to see (kind of like a UniNSC mailing list, or a PvE fleet going out)
- #talkaboutpings: As the channel says, use this channel for questions/discusions about a recent ping.
- #Random: For whatever (mostly Carth's GIF's at the moment) Keep it within Chat rules.
- #NSFW: a R-Rated Channel for whatever (keep it decent or I will delete the channel)
- #campusbatphone: "OMG WE HAVE A TITAN TACKLED AND NEED EVERYTHING". Unless your ping is something along that line, don't use this channel.
- #extracurricularactivities: Playing LoL/COD/WOW/*insert latest multiplayer game here* and want some friends, use this channel.
Please be respectful, decent and all the rest of those things in slack.. and NEVER reveal any personal info.
