Sovereignty in EVE refers to the act of acquiring and maintaining certain parts of nullsec (a.k.a 0.0) space. Sovereign alliances must defend their systems to from other alliances in order to remain in control of their space. The act of claiming space is an arduous process and requires co-operation and wealth to pull off, especially when fighting against another player entity.

Sovereign Nullsec

Only systems that aren't in Empire or Wormhole Space may be claimed by players. Frequently referred to as sovnull, these systems have these common (but not necessarily exclusive) features.

  • Not controlled by any NPC faction.
  • Security level under 0.0
  • No CONCORD presence.
  • No gate guns. IE: No Empire influence.
  • All stations are claimable by players.
  • No ramifications for PvP combat that would be illegal in highsec or lowsec.
  • NPC factions present in the form of PvE combat, data, relic sites.
  • Enhanced opportunities for mining and hacking.
