I've been moving my Uni char down to the every-campus-but-amc area yesterday. I never realized how close they all are. My industrialist/miner/hauler bases itself out of the [[AMC]], though I have my big hauler ships stationed at a trade hub. Until recently I was traveling from the [[AMC]] to any event I attended, and that's pretty much the other side of the galaxy. Having ships stationed in the [[LSC]]/[[HQ]] area is going to make that a lot easier. | I've been moving my Uni char down to the every-campus-but-amc area yesterday. Trying to train to fit changing and seemingly randomly chosen doctrines has left me in a place where I have a little of everything trained, but nothing well. For instance, the only T2 weapons I have trained are hybrid, but I have both amarr and minmatar T2 frigates trained. Since I'm not a PVPer, I don't really understand what I should be training for fleets. I DO have my scanning skills and covops skils almost maxed. I can fly recons and prtty soon maybe even black ops battleships. Really that last one is like a month away and by then I'll have added a ton of other stuff to my queue. I'm training T2 lasers now, then I'll train various T2 small weapons while I try to understand what is good to train for bigger ships. | Trying to train to fit changing, and seemingly randomly chosen, doctrines has left me in a place where I have a little of everything trained, but nothing well. Then I got into the [[Algos]] and just ran to learn to rat. I went into Uph and saw that CFT outnumbered LSC people by far, so I left the area. That doesn't seem like a good situation. I can see why people base out of stacmon. I want to get used to living in a hostile area, but I'd prefer to dip my toe in :) To do that toe dip, I ended up going to the little loop off of slays. I ran around getting rats, had no problem with them. My drone skills are pretty good and I've started to make my money using my mission alt. So this wouldn't tough. I BARELY escaped a malediction. I don't go places solo while uncloaked. It's weird. As soon as I saw someone that wasn't Uni in the area I was staring at my overview and dscan. I want to lie and say I was saved because I took everyones advice about tacticals and mashing dscan, short and far dscan, staying aligned. No, not really. It was a fluke. I was already aligned scooping my drones because I was done. I recognized that and took a break. I wasn't going to be so lucky next time.

Then I went into the same systems and decided to make a bajillion safes. My system for making safes is to scan the whole system and bookmark every [[anomaly]]/[[signature]]. That way when they despawn, you have a bunch of safes you can go through later and see what looks like one you want to keep. I'll go through in a few days when I get time and clear out ones that don't look good, then rename the ones I keep into a system that I have. I have safes in pretty much any system I've been in.
Hacking sites in lowsec is weird. People show up once in a while. I'm used to wormholes, where you don't see people in local. So while hacking, I'd set myself to keep at range 5km when I hacked. That way if I saw someone in the system, I'd cloak right away. You fail the hack, but it's better than losing the ship. 5kM is far enough | Hacking sites in lowsec is weird. Hacking is 6km limit, so that's a nice sweet spot. I was probably over-cautious, but better safe than sorry. This is a new area to me after all.
I was hunted for a while. They were going belt to belt looking for me. Once they realized I was not at belts, they brought out a scanning venture. I thought that was kinda funny. It occurred to me that they might try to gate camp with instalockers to get me leaving, but I had a wormhole bookmarked to another lowsec system, so I wasn't worried. | I was hunted for a while.
