Kills, Kills, and More Kills
High Sec, Low Sec, Whats Sec?
My first kill mail was for my own death. Brought on by the hunt for skills I begot a kill. Traveling the stars only shortly after completing the career missions, I went shopping for Skill Books -- anywhere at the lowest price. And I did it on auto-pilot. Amazing how we all seem to live the cliche, even when we thought we knew better. It is said there is no learning without failure. Perhaps true. What is certain is that I don't use Auto-pilot anymore. Except in a shuttle... with an empty hold... and only in security 0.7 and above.
My first kill (death) cost me more than my clone. I lost those skill books. Today I only buy and inject. Yes, skills can be expensive, yet so small in volume. How tempting to shuttle them from here to there... and for a profit! Buyer beware.
But back to the first kill. I felt so bad I put a bounty the pilot who killed me. Another failure, another lesson learned. It was months before that bounty was paid. I marveled at how far I had come when I got the notice, and how little I cared for the revenge. After all, that was my first lesson in death. And had I not learned it then, what more would it have cost in some un-lived future? Today, I thank the Low Sec Gankers for the challenges they present. And perhaps one day, the ISK they reward when I get to the other side of the kill mail.
