Introduction

Scouting certification is a requirement for ILN members who wish to scout or picket during wartime and fly a Tech 2 ship for that purpose (Covert Ops Frigate, Force Recon, Stealth Bomber, Black Ops) . Scout certification is NOT required during peacetime or during wartime if the scout is flying a T1 ship. The purpose of certification is to reduce wartime ship losses of expensive T2 ships due to a lack of pilot expertise.

Training Requirements

  • Attend a Scouting 101 and a D-Scan class - send the instructor an e-mail or 1 ISK at the beginning and end of the class and notify them to forward a record of your attendance to you Task Force Security Liason.

Posses at a minimum the following skills:

  • Meet the skill requirements to fly the T2 covert-ops ship (Covert Ops Frigate, Force Recon, Stealth Bomber, Black Ops)
  • Cloaking IV
  • Covert Ops IV
  • Astrometrics IV
  • Astrometric Acquisition III
  • Astrometric Pinpointing III
  • Astrometric Rangefinding III
  • Evasive Manuevering III
  • Warp Drive Operation IV

In addition to these formal classes and skills, the following arerecommended to develop the skills to pass the certification practical test:

  • Practice D-Scan, Probing and Bookmarking skills on your own i.e.  Identify a ship on D-Scan and try and find it as fast you can
  • Work with a certified scout to refine your practical skills
  • Participate in fleet operations as a scout

Practical training during war time must be done using a T1 frigate and prototype cloaking device

Fitting Requirements

When fitting your covert-ops ship it is important to keep in mind the priorities of a scout and add modules accordingly.  The priorities of a scout are as follows: 1) remain undetectable 2) detect threats 3) find targets 4) provide warp-in locations for the fleet.

Rigs - Required

Gravity Capacitor Upgrade I x 2

Modules - Required

Covert Ops Cloaking Device II

Expanded Probe Launcher

Sisters Combat Scanner Probes (8)

Capacitor Battery (size and meta-level 0-5, ship/fit dependent)

Cap Recharger (meta-level 0-5, ship/fit epenent)

MWD (Null-sec)

Modules - Optional

Sisters Expanded Core Probe Launcher (upgrade)

Auxillary Power Core

Nanofiber Internal Structure

Sensor Dampener

MWD

NO tackling or weapon modules.  We don't want you to even be tempted to use them - no heroes please.... It is perfectly fine to have empty module slots!

Certification Practical Requirements

For certification the scout must demonstrate the following abilities in a practical test in a covert-ops ship.   During war time, the scout can use an out of corporation (OOC) alt charachter in a covert-ops ship.

  • Jump through a gate and leave a station with out being targetted (yellow boxed)
  • Make and label bookmarks  (Safe, Tactical, Insta-undock, Off-grid "Pounce")
  • Find a target ship (frigate) position in proximity to a celestial in less than 5 minutes
  • Find a target ship (frigate) safe spot -  direction and distance from a celestial in less than 5 minutes
  • Augment D-Scan with probes to find target ship (frigate) (not proximal to a celestial) in less than 5 minutes - probes on D-Scan less than 90 seconds
  • Simulate tactical warp in conditions to bring fleet to target
  • Procedure when uncloaked, deploying and reloading probes
  • Proper communication in fleet command chat
  • Use of map tools Eve-Map, Ombeve map and Dotlan
  • Understanding of bubbles: detection, escape from and use of tactical warp-ins to avoid
  • Basic understanding of Worm-hole detection, identification, bookmarking and scanning
  • Set-up overview for POS detection
