rainbowunicorns (lowercase "r") is a member of no particular note of EVE University.
This page was created because he needed to be able to post more than 500 characters regarding a death on the killfeed when the FC was too busy dealing with administrative stuff to AAR a fight gone wrong. Maybe it will become something more, but probably not.
2013-10-09: NSC fleet
Klytus Gordon bumped into Calamitous-Intent cruiser gang in PVH. He survived, and upon reporting it someone (I think Timdogg Ambramotte, but I could be mistaken) decided to assemble a roam to go fight them. Klytus continued to track the fleet and kept us updated on their position.
Once we eventually caught up to them, one ship was sent in to get them to aggress, and once he did the FC called for the fleet to jump in.
Series of events from my perspective, following order to jump in:
- I issued a move command and “activated” my tank immediately, and then started dealing with the ailing ship.
- I locked up our initial ship and confirmed that reps were up.
- I broadcasted for reps, as I was taking shield damage.
- I checked my tank and found that the DC and the first hardener were not active, and activated them (at this point my shields reached the end of their life).
- I locked up my cap buddy to start ET.
- I said “rainbow needs reps” over mumble.
- I Remembered that I should be overheating hardeners (after overheating the rack, checked armour percentage and was at 40%)
- I broadcasted for reps again.
- I Died. Bounced while waiting weapons timer, and then made my way home in a pod.
After action analysis:
- I should have confirmed the server registered all my tank modules activation commands before switching tasks. I incorrectly prioritized the ailing ship over myself because of chatter in mumble.
- I should have overheated my hardeners when I broadcasted reps while losing shields (assuming the hardeners were even active at that point). Since this was the “switch back to my ship” context switch, it should have been included; I could have turned off the overheat next time I switched back again if I had stopped being primary.
- I believe the decision to deal with the ailing ship was correct, given that ET was up fast enough that my cap partner should not have had cap issues.
- Based on the difference between damage taken and raw HP, I received about 4 cycles of large meta 4 repairer.
I owe Gabriel Finch a Kinetic Plating II when mine are delivered from Jita; I done gone and misplaced his.
