User talk:Abelard Andedare/WIP/3rd Party Tools
A complete rewrite of the 3rd Party Tools article, with an eye towards usability and maintainability
Plan of Action
Initial layout and information gatheringincorporation of all standalone or web hosted tools from the #tweetfleet awesome-eve listchecking and incorporation of all relevant entries from the old pagecopy editing- peer review
- publication
- moving of leftover resources to a new page to compliment this one, with "reference material" and "news"

Outstanding Issues
- Should self-hosted web-apps (requiring a LAMP stack or equivalent) be included?
- Should there be a stated procedure for being included / not included? For instance, how long should a tool go without update before it is removed?
- What to do with items that were on the old list but should not have been, like the Eve Acronyms website?
- I lean towards making a separate "new player resources" article, perhaps as a part of my guide to getting yourself set up that is currently WIP

I would suggest to add the following additional tools (from my parallel edit):
jEveAssets - very useful asset manager (http://eve.nikr.net/jeveasset)- IGB POS Planer - Unique POS fitting tool, and does not need the IGB to work
EVE Structures - Unique tool for finding public structures in New Eden (http://www.kalkoken.org/apps/evestruct/)

- Oops, I though jEveAssets WAS added. Feel free to add it. Would you put it in Market/Industry or Misc?
- IGB POS Planer has no updates since 2016-05, which is around the time I have been dropping other tools without updates.
- Feel free to add this one too. Intel section?

- added jEveAssets and Eve Structures
- I think jEveAssets fits well in the Character Monitoring, since its about monitoring character related information
- Regarding IGB POS Planer: I agree that its about a year old, but I would argue that it is still very useful for players and there is no alternative (that I know of). Also, there has not been any big POS changes since then. So I would still recommend it to players today. What do you think?

- You make some good points about IGB POS. I am adding it back in
- adding a warning note to Pirate's little helper that it is no longer being developed and is breaking/will break in the near future

The following entries are being left out because they are not tools per se, and should be part of a separate "Further Resource" type of page

- Chruker's EVE site - Reference sites belong elsewhere
- Cerlestes Ore and Ice Tables - Reference sites belong elsewhere
