The Loot Fairy is a reference to the fixed chance of cargo being destroyed when a ship is destroyed. In the history of EVE, there has been times where the destruction chance has been modified for a week, but it is usually fixed at 50% at all times.

Origin

"loot fairy said no" is a popular preset comment on zkillboard killmails that can be upvoted. It basically means the attackers lost valuable potential loot due to randomness.

Explanation

When bad things happen, it is common to attribute the cause to mystical or mythical beings, such as fairies who are known to be tricksters in common folklore.
