Introduction

One of the requirements required for joining the Wormhole Community is the ability to fit a full Tier 2 tank, either armor or shield. The purpose of this guide is to provide an overview of the most common type of tank used at the WHC so that new campus members will be able to participate fully in all campus activities.

WHC Fleets

Armor Tanked Fleets

The WHC primarily runs armor tanked fleets for all aspects of campus life, including running Sleeper sites and general PvP activities. Armor tanks are preferred because they tend to leave mid-slots open for other modules such as warp disruptors, webs, and EWAR. Since wormhole life can be chaotic at times (getting a site running fleet jumped by another fleet, for example), the ability to use your mid-slots for tackle or EWAR is a great benefit.

Shield Tanked Fleets

While the WHC generally uses armor tanked fleets, there are some cases where shield tanked fleets are preferred. One such situation is if we are planning on doing activities in a Pulsar wormhole. Pulsar wormholes increase your shield HP by 25-100% and decrease your armor resists by 10-50%, depending on the class of wormhole (C1-C6). For this reason, a shield tanked fleet has an advantage over armor tanked fleets when flying in Pulsar wormholes.
