Dez Sandre

Hello! I'm Dez Sandre, when I began to play EVE Online back in, 2009.11.02, I was totaly lost. But now at the time of writing, 2013.11.10, I know when and where to turn my ship but I'm still lost.

My story

Long time ago in a room far far away. ( Not really, only a two hour trip to that room from this one) Anyway, I notised EVE Online, and I was so Impressed by all these players from all over the world in a single univers, and that was not all, it was a sandbox. The more I search about the game called EVE Online the more impressed I got.

What got me to create my first account

The players produce nearly all things. You can kill anyone, and they loose their hard earned ship. No "level", you could just train skills and training in real-time.

  • And all the carrers!
    • Mining
    • Industrial
    • Corporation leader
    • Building your own space station. (What I know now is that you can't dock in POSes they aren't so big.)
    • PVP
      • Solo
      • Small gang
      • Fleet
      • Alliance BIG F*** WAR
    • Exploring
    • Planetary Interaction
    • Missioning for Agents (Questing)
    • Trader
    • Hauler

I could become anything, all the possibilities!

Started my account

I created my account, made my first character(in the old character creator), an logged in. BOOM! Here I was knew all the things I could do, but had no idea how to even move my ship! Trying to understand what all the buttons were doing was harder that the math in school at the time! But I had begun the adventure of my life!

First few days

Some how, I started to understand how things worked, I could move in and out of stations, kill rats(NPC Enemies) in astroid belts, and... MINE! I had my mining frigate, and all I had to do where to warp to a astroid belt mine some Veldspar and I got around 15000-46000 ISK! That was so awesome! I got some tips when searching around, and found that I could jettison my ore into space and the come back in my industrial ship and scoop all the ore all at once, so I was orbiting astroids for hours and every sixty seconds I draged my ore over to the jettison-can. This was life! I would have the biggest ship in no time!

My starting mistake

From what I know now, I didn't earn that much isk at the time, if I could redo my first week I wouldn't mine in a frigate. I would do ALL of the tutorial missions first! And mean while I was doing thoes missions, I would train my mining skills! So I could start mining in a bigger ship from mining day one. Tho it was one of the most thrilling experience I have ever had in eve. Just see the money flow in from doing nothing!

Odds against me

I started rather early, 2009, tho EVE started in 2003, I would say EVE is getting better and better.

  • The tutorial was really bad.
  • The industrial frigate Venture wasn't there.
  • No ore-hold for the ore, only the cargo space ~200-450m3.
  • They had a skillbook system that was crazy, I had to train "training skills" to train better, for atleast whole mounth!

Passive time

I've had alot of passive time, in my EVE-Life. I've paid for the game every month only to go online for once every week adding skills to my character, thinking that one day I will start playing active again and then I got a awesome pilot. And from time to time I tried to play a bit but no, just went back to skill training, some time I tried starting my own corp but wasn't that big diffrence while playing alone. In 2012 I had a point where I tried to start play more EVE again, and I tried to apply for EVE-Univeristy, tho the waiting time to get in was long. So I went passive again. It went on, I even closed my account for some months or so, 2012~2013. In 2013, I got active again, started to look for a corp that I could join, and I came in contact with a corp named 1% that lived in Wormhole Space. They where really nice guys and gave me tips and tricks, and told me to join EVE-University for a while before I joined them in WHs.

EVE-University

I tried to re-apply to E-Uni again, this time it was amazing. I never dropped the queue since 2012! So in just a day I got in, tho the Personnel Officer I had to talk to, was woundering why a 16m skillpoint character would like to join a new player corp. (I might have the skillpoints but in my mind I were a total noob.) So I got in, 2013.05.30. It was fun, had people who also played EVE to talk to over mumble, there where classes I attended and learned alot from. I finaly understood the fun of active playing EVE. I started to change from Mining/Industry to PVP and the skills req for Wormholes.

Real life

2013.09.02 I had to much going on in real life, and didn't have the time for EVE, I had joined a Real life university also! And all the exams came up. I was kicked or dropped out of E-Uni.

Month later

I re-applied since it was less than 30 days since I got out, I fast tracked in. and I was kinda fast since I still had more real life exams to do, but I got in again. And this time I knew all the basics, so I signed up for the first Noobs on Patrol I could find, any fleet acctually, and I had alot of fun.

NOW

I'm still with E-Uni and loving it, after the Cloaking 101 class today I realised that I knew how to cloak since the Bombing fleets with NSC. So I decided I'm ready to go out into Wormhole Space. One thing... From the begining of E-Uni I havn't requested any titels. And I need the second title Sophomore to join the Wormhole Campus. So that's why I got the time to write down my EVE life story on this wiki, I'm waiting for my Freshman title, so I can request my Sophomore title after that. And then finaly join the WHC! I'm so excited, living in WHs will be awesome, locked up for a day or to, just because the wrong wormhole open. And doing what I can without a safe station to spin my ship in. (And no local!) Awesome!

Wow, you acctually read all that? Heh, if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me! Fly safe! o/
